Crafting the Dark Crystal Robe set

Where a dwarf gets everything for the Dark Crystal magic set: recipes at the Beast Farm and in the Valley of Saints, the best places to spoil the key materials for each piece, the materials of the craft and the cost of unsealing.

The most popular of all the magic sets in Lineage 2 (even the S magic set is unpopular because it has no bonus to casting speed), so everybody needs it, and it is crafted constantly and sold constantly.

The set bonus: physical defence +8%, casting speed +15%, speed +7, protection from paralysis +50%, a small increase of protection from cancel, WIT +2, MEN -2. When the whole set is enchanted to +6, the physical defence and the weight limit increase. The shield is not part of the set, and it is not top A either, so we replace it at once with a Nightmare or an Imperial Crusader shield.

Recipes for the boots and helmet: the farm

First of all we set off for the farm, teleport from Rune to the Beast Farm; here we will spoil the recipes for the Dark Crystal boots and helmet. Yes, they can be bought from players, but on the first day on a server you do not have enough finances yet.

For those who do not know yet: the beasts at the farm can be fed, so we find the NPC at once and buy crystal spice and golden spice from him in the needed quantity (about 300 of each will do for a start). How to find the NPC with the feed and what the farm is like, read in the description of the location. Aggressive mobs are not fed; we spoil and kill them at once, and from them we get many stones of purity, molds and other resources for craft; and we will feed the tigers, the bulls and the two-headed ostriches. Remember at once: if you feed one animal while another one or several stand nearby, they will all merrily come running to you, so to begin with we choose mobs standing alone, and then you will gradually get the hang of it.

For the Dark Crystal recipes we will need the bulls (Alpen Buffalo): we feed them up to x2 with crystal spice; if the bull turns out a warrior, Alpen Buffalo R (that is, it attacks with a physical attack), we spoil it and get the recipes for the boots (Recipe: Sealed Dark Crystal Boots(60%)); if a mage, we go on feeding up to x4, Alpen Buffalo U, and then spoil it and get the recipes for the helmet (Recipe: Sealed Dark Crystal Helmet(60%)). The spoil is naturally unequal: for some 5-10 recipes for the boots you will have 1 recipe for the helmet. At x4 a beast may get tamed, that is, become non-aggressive and start buffing you; you can simply kill it, there will be neither drop nor spoil from it, or you can leave it, and it will heal you a little from time to time.

The recipe for the robe: Valley of Saints

Next comes the recipe for the Dark Crystal robe (Recipe: Sealed Dark Crystal Robe(60%)): teleport from the same Rune to the Valley of Saints; from the teleport we run along the right side by the path for quite a long time, until on this road we come upon the raid boss of level 66, Demon's Agent Falston; next to it we jump down and look for the mob of level 65, Alliance of Splendor A, and spoil the recipes for the robe from it. The mob is interesting: it can turn into a panther, Alliance of Splendor B, which in its turn can cancel all your buffs, so we kill it as fast as possible, not forgetting to spoil it; the recipe for the robe is spoiled from both mobs. If the raid boss is not there, do not despair: when you reach the big sandy clearing on the left where the raid boss should stand, go up to the edge and look down: there will be some pillars of sand, tablets, and after them a big clearing, and that is where we have to jump down.

If for some reason you cannot spoil, you can try knocking the recipe for the robe out of the mob Trampled Man. There are two identical mobs there, and from one the chance is slightly bigger than from the other, but that is not our way: you need either a mage or a destroyer there, and the drop chance is quite small.

Recipes for the gloves and the shield

There is no spoil for the Dark Crystal gloves (Recipe: Sealed Dark Crystal Gloves(60%)); there is a drop right here in the Valley of Saints, but the percentage is very small, and it is better to buy this recipe from players; that is if the server is old and the market is saturated with such items, and if it has just opened, we will have to knock the recipe out ourselves. It drops right here, in the valley, only the mobs are different: Judge of Splendor is a group mob needed for the noblesse quest, so some individuals are constantly rushing about and yelling at us not to beat this mob. The simplest is to take such a comrade into the party: the drop for you, the quest item for the person. Pilgrim of Splendor is also a group mob and also needed for the noblesse quest; we do the same as with the first mob. They stand a little further in the location, closer to the room with the raid boss. Punishment of Splendor A also stands here in the clearing; it can teleport over short distances, and at the very first blow it summons another mob of the same kind to itself, but their drops are different. On classic Interlude the drop of the recipe for the gloves is only from the first mob, but nowadays an altered build is popular in which the recipe drops from both mobs.

The recipe for the Dark Crystal shield (Recipe: Sealed Dark Crystal Shield(60%)) is spoiled at the farm from the x2 warrior bull, Alpen Buffalo P, to be fed with crystal spice; the drop is from the bull at 1/2 HP (the initial form). The recipes for crafting the Dark Crystal magic set can also be got by quests (this is for those who like beating many mobs but do not like spoiling). All the recipes for the gloves, boots and helmet are got in the quest Legacy of Insolence, and the recipe for the robe in the quest Whisper of Dreams.

Key materials

The full lists of monsters with the drop and spoil of each key material and of the whole pieces are on the pages of these items.

The craft

Unsealing

All the crafted and knocked-out things can be unsealed at the Blacksmith of Mammon in the catacombs in the victory week; the cost of unsealing is this: the robe 381k ancient adena, the helmet 130.5k, the gloves 87k, the boots 87k, the shield 92k.

That is in principle all about the Dark Crystal magic set; the only thing I will add is that craft is an unpredictable business, so prepare 3-4 kits at once; in any case you will always sell the extra quickly and profitably. A minimal amount of resources is needed for the craft, there are no scarce Mithril Alloy, Varnish of Purity and so on; B-grade gemstones are sold by NPCs, and ask crafters to break crystals for you out of unneeded B-grade things.
