Warlock

Warlock is a Human mystic class in Lineage 2 BoHPTS, available after the 2nd class transfer at level 40. It advances from Wizard. It advances to Arcana Lord. The class learns 33 skills of its own between levels 40 and 74.

How to play Warlock

What the class is

The Warlock is the human summoner: he fights with his cats, not with his own spells. It is one of the best classes for playing alone, because the servitor takes the blows and deals the damage while the master heals and buffs it, and neither outside buffs nor expensive gear are needed for that. In a party the Warlock is welcome for the Feline Queen, whose buffs make fighters and archers hit harder, and for the cubics he hands out to everyone.

The cats

Summon Kat the Cat: the sturdy first cat. It holds monsters well and can refill your MP, but takes 30% of the experience.
Summon Mew the Cat: a cat that attacks with magic and eats 90% of the experience. It is taken for farming and for fights between players, not for leveling.
Summon Kai the Cat: the working cat for leveling. It takes only 10% of the experience and returns a part of melee damage to the attacker.
Summon Feline Queen: the party cat, 5% of the experience. Her buffs raise the critical rate and power, P. Atk. and accuracy of the whole party, and her cure removes debuffs on accuracy, attack and attack speed.
From level 79 the Arcana Lord calls Summon Feline King, the strongest cat of the line, and Final Servitor briefly turns any servitor into a far more dangerous one.

Key skills

Servitor Heal and Servitor Recharge: healing and mana for the servitor. This pair is your whole rotation while leveling.
Servitor Physical Shield, Servitor Magic Shield, Servitor Haste, Servitor Wind Walk and Servitor Empowerment: the servitor's own buffs, defence, attack speed, running speed and resistance to having its buffs removed.
Transfer Pain: a toggle that passes a part of the damage you take to the servitor. In PvP it is switched on all the time.
Summon Storm Cubic, Summon Binding Cubic and Mass Summon Storm Cubic: cubics. The Storm Cubic adds damage, the Binding Cubic paralyses, the mass version gives a Storm Cubic to every party member. Cubic Mastery lets you keep three at once.
Betray: turns an enemy's servitor against its own master. Arcane Disruption slows enemy casters, Mass Surrender to Fire lowers fire resistance around your cat.
Servitor Blessing frees you from hold and paralysis, and Summon Friend pulls party members to your position.
High Five gives the summoner his own attack: Dimension Spiral is a damage spell learned from level 40, and Spirit Sharing is a twenty-minute self-buff for attack and speed.

How to level

Summon the cat, put its buffs on, send it at a monster and stay behind: your task is to keep it alive with Servitor Heal and to pick the next target. Summoning costs crystals and the cat keeps taking its share of experience while it is out, so level with Summon Kai the Cat and later with Summon Feline Queen, not with the cats that eat a third or more. Give the servitor beast shots, they change the speed of killing more than anything in your own bag. When several monsters come at once, the cat holds them and you heal; when one slips past to you, let the cat take it back instead of running.

Equipment and dyes

Weapon: a mage weapon with casting speed. Your own magic attack matters little; what matters is how fast the next heal lands on the cat.
Armor: the class has both Robe Mastery and Light Armor Mastery. A robe gives more mana; light armor gives defence together with casting speed and MP recovery, and most summoners end up in it.
Dyes: WIT for casting speed and CON for survival, taken from STR, MEN and INT. The rules are in Dyes and symbols: kinds of dyes, how to apply them and where to get them.

In PvP and sieges

Enemies quickly learn that the cat is only half of you, so expect to be attacked yourself. Keep Transfer Pain on, heal the servitor rather than yourself and let the cubics work: a paralysis from the Binding Cubic often decides a duel. Use Betray on other summoners, Arcane Disruption on mages, and from level 76 Warrior Bane and Mage Bane to strip a fighter or a caster of the buffs that make him fast. In a group fight the Feline Queen's buffs for your damage dealers are worth more than anything the cat could do with its claws.

Second-profession quests for the Warlock

To get the second profession, the Warlock needs three marks: Mark of Scholar, Mark of Trust and Mark of Summoner.

All the second-profession quests have something in common, namely: To get the second profession every class must have three marks in the quest inventory, and a separate quest has to be done for each mark. The quests are taken at levels 35, 37 and 39. Some of the quests are shared by several classes, some are individual. To get the second profession the Warlock has to do at level 35 the same quest as all the mages and summoners, at 37 the same quest as all humans, and at 39 the same as all the other summoners.

General remarks on doing all three quests: It is better to do all the second-profession quests when you are already level 40 or higher, although you can also start running them by level: at 35, 37 and 39 respectively. But there may be a moment when the NPCs refuse to continue the quest until you gain the next level. If you start at 40, this situation will not arise. In the third quest practically no mobs are beaten at all, and so as not to bother with leveling the character to 40 after getting the third mark, it is easier to gain that level 40 before doing the quests.

After passing all three quests and getting the three marks, you have to go to the mages guild in Giran to Grand Magister Jurek, choose the top line of the dialogue, the one about asking for a change of profession, pick our profession, namely Warlock, and click the line "change profession to Warlock". Congratulations, you have got the second profession.

On reaching level 76 you can do the third-profession quest: Saga of the Arcana Lord.
