After the third class change the skills themselves can be improved: more power, a shorter reuse, a lower cost or a better chance. This page explains who may enchant skills, what it costs, which book is needed and how to lose as little as possible when an attempt fails.
Requirements
- The third class change is done: see Third class transfer quest: the sagas of every class.
- The character is level 76 or higher.
- The skill is learned to its last ordinary level.
How it is done
In this chronicle skills are enchanted in the skill window: the button at its bottom opens the enchant panel, where you drop a skill and see the routes, the price and the chance. An attempt costs SP and adena. Skills of the second class go up to +30, skills of the third class up to +15.
Four books, four kinds of attempt
Giant's Codex: the ordinary enchant. The book is spent only on the step from +0 to +1; a failure resets the skill to +0.
Giant's Codex - Mastery: the safe enchant. A book is spent on every attempt, but a failure keeps the current level.
Giant's Codex - Discipline: changes the route of an enchanted skill. The level may drop by one to three, but never below +1.
Giant's Codex - Oblivion: lowers the enchant level and returns the SP spent on it.
What to keep in mind
- The chance falls with every level gained, so the last steps are the expensive ones.
- The chance depends on the level of the character: the same step is easier at a higher level.
- One skill follows one route. Decide between power and the other options before the first book is spent.
