A full party earns far more experience from every kill than its members would alone, but only when their levels are close. This page gives the bonus for each party size, the penalty for a level gap, the ways loot is shared, the party search window and the chat commands.
The experience bonus
The experience of a kill is shared between the members who are nearby, and before it is shared it is increased according to the size of the party: by 10% for two characters, 20% for three, 30% for four, 40% for five, 50% for six, 100% for seven, 110% for eight and 120% for nine.
The step from six to seven members doubles the bonus, which is why seven is the practical minimum for a leveling party, and why a full party of nine can afford a healer and a buffer who deal no damage at all.
The level gap
- Up to 9 levels between the members: everyone receives a full share.
- From 10 to 14 levels: the lower character receives 30% of his share.
- 15 levels and more: the lower character receives nothing.
How loot is shared
Adena is always divided equally between the members. For items the party leader chooses one of five rules, and he may change it at any moment, but every member has to confirm the change.
- Finders keepers: the item belongs to whoever picks it up.
- By turn: whoever picks it up, items go to the members one after another.
- Random: whoever picks it up, the item goes to a random member.
- By turn including spoil and random including spoil: the same two rules, extended to what a dwarf sweeps from the corpses.
Finding a party
The party matching window is opened with the button in the lower right corner of the chat window, from the Actions window or with the command /partymatching. It lists the rooms of the parties that are looking for members, filtered by location and level range; pointing at a room shows who is already in it.
- A room is created by a party leader or by a player without a party: he sets a title, the maximum number of members and the level range, and the words about the search appear over his name.
- The waiting list shows the players who are looking for a party; the leader can filter it by level, role and name, write to a player and invite him into the room.
Chat commands
- /invite with a name invites a player, /leave takes you out of the party, /dismiss with a name removes a member.
- /partyinfo shows the party and its loot rule, and /changepartyleader with a name hands the leadership over.
A party is also the ticket to most instanced dungeons: see Instanced dungeons: entry rules, time limits and cooldowns. The first steps of a new character are in Beginner's guide to Lineage 2: first steps, newbie help and what to do next.
