Weapon augmentation: Life Stones, gemstones and possible bonuses

Augmentation adds random bonuses to a weapon, from a few points of attack to an extra skill, and binds the weapon to its owner. This page explains what is needed, where it is done, what can come out and what an augmented weapon can no longer do.

What you need

A stone has a level (46, 49, 52, 55, 58, 61, 64, 67, 70 or 76) and a quality: ordinary, mid-grade, high-grade or top-grade. Your character must be at least of the stone's level, and the stone must be high enough for the weapon: a level 46 stone does not fit an A-grade weapon, while a level 76 stone fits anything. The better the quality, the more likely a skill appears.

Where it is done

The blacksmith of almost any town augments weapons; the starting villages and Gludin are the exceptions. The same blacksmith removes an augmentation for a fee, after which the weapon is ordinary again and can be augmented with a new stone.

What can come out

One attempt gives from one to four bonuses, and the result is random: most players go through many stones before they keep one.

What an augmented weapon cannot do

The bonuses stop working if the character drops below the level needed for the grade of the weapon, and return when the level is regained.
