How to create a clan and raise it level by level: what each level costs and gives, the clan hall auction trap, how to set the clan and alliance crests, alliance commands, where reputation comes from and how the academy works.
Normal people unite in clans in order to dominate. I have my own reasons: a common clan warehouse into which all my numerous twinks dump resources, recipes and key materials. But in any case a clan is needed.
I usually create a clan closer to level 50, first because I can at once raise the clan to level 3, having a sufficient amount of adena and SP, and second because by that time I am already able to knock the item for level 3 out of the mobs. But everything in order.
Creating a clan
A clan can be created by going up to any grand master in any guild in any town, even to the head blacksmith or the warehouse chief. We choose the line "Clan", then "Create clan", enter the needed clan name and press the create button. On some servers a clan cannot be given a name of two characters, three at the minimum. Keep that in mind when you think up a name.
Any character of level 10 or higher can found a clan at the clan NPC of a guild or temple. The name may hold up to 16 letters and digits without spaces. A new clan is level 0 and takes ten members. A player who leaves or is expelled waits one day before joining another clan, and a leader who dissolves a clan cannot found a new one for ten days.
What every level costs
- Level 1: 20,000 SP and 650,000 adena.
- Level 2: 100,000 SP and 2,500,000 adena.
- Level 3: 350,000 SP and
Blood Mark, which drops from Blood Queen. - Level 4: 1,000,000 SP and
Alliance Manifesto, the reward of Proof of Clan Alliance. - Level 5: 2,500,000 SP and
Seal of Aspiration, the reward of Pursuit of Clan Ambition!. - Levels 6, 7 and 8: 5,000, 10,000 and 20,000 clan reputation points with at least 30, 50 and 80 members.
- Level 9: 40,000 reputation points, 150 ×
Blood Oath and at least 120 members. - Level 10: 40,000 reputation points, 5 ×
Blood Alliance and at least 140 members. - Level 11: 75,000 reputation points, at least 170 members and a territory owned by the clan.
SP are taken from the leader, so the leader levels with the clan in mind. From level 6 the price is clan reputation, which the whole clan earns together.
Level by level: what it gives and how to take it
So we have created a clan of level 0; only the clan chat and up to 10 members are possible on it, and now the level has to be raised. At any grand master we again press the line "clan", and then the line "clan management". We choose "raise the clan level"; the main thing here is to have enough SP and adena.
- Level 1. The clan warehouse becomes available.
- Level 2. The possibility of buying a clan hall becomes available. When buying a clan hall you have to bear in mind that the maximum bid on Interlude PTS servers is 999,999,999 adena, that is, if you managed to be the first to place this sum, consider the clan hall already yours: nobody will outbid it. Before placing this sum, do not forget to put it into the clan warehouse. Having made the bid, you can make sure everything is fine: exactly this sum will be written off from your clan warehouse. Many make a mistake precisely at this stage, bidding 2.1 billion adena. The thing is that you can type this number into the auction line, but the server will not process it, since there will be an overflow, and it will drop the last digit, so in fact you will bid a mere 214 million. You can make sure of it by checking how much adena was taken from your clan warehouse. And do not forget that if for some reason your bid did not win, after the auction your bid minus 10% will return to your clan warehouse, and if the total sum in the warehouse then exceeds 2.14 billion, all the adena will burn.
- Level 3. The item needed used to be called Proof of Blood; now it is called
Blood Mark, and it drops from the mob Blood Queen of level 60: either teleport from Giran to the lair of Antharas, the mob is in the clearing before the cave, or teleport from Aden to the Seal of Shilen, the mob is on the right and on the left outside the wall of the Cemetery. At the third clan level wars with other clans are available, you can join another clan's alliance, and you can make titles for clan members and a clan crest.
The clan crest. To set a crest for the clan, we create a picture of 16 by 12 pixels in any graphics editor and save it in the .bmp format. The Koreans did the silliest thing: the client accepts the picture when it seems to have 256 colours, but if we make such a picture in Photoshop, it will not be accepted. You have to open the created picture in Paint and at once choose "save as" in the program menu, choose 256-colour bmp and save.
Now on the "clan" tab of the client we choose the lowest right button; depending on the client it will say "emblem" or "crest". A field for entering the path to the file will open. For example: we call our picture 1.bmp, that is, the file name is 1 and the extension is .bmp. We throw the picture onto disk C; then the path to the file is c:\1.bmp. Now we press OK and see our little crest next to the nicknames of all the clan members.
- Level 4. The item needed is
Alliance Manifesto (it used to be called Proof of Alliance). To get the item you have to do the quest Proof of Clan Alliance; the quest needs the clan leader and three clan members (it can be done on several windows). They say it can be done with two clan members too, the leader and somebody else, but I did not try that way: I simply do not want to run for an hour and then fail. As soon as you raise level 4, you can take part in castle sieges. - Level 5. The item needed is
Seal of Aspiration (it used to be called Proof of Aspiration). The possibility of creating a clan academy appears; read about it below. To get the item we do the quest Pursuit of Clan Ambition!; the quest can be done by the clan leader alone, and it is desirable to be level 65+.
After getting level 5 the clan gets the possibility of creating its own alliance; for that, at any grand master (as for creating a clan) we choose the item "alliance" and press the line "create alliance".
To set the alliance crest we prepare a picture in the same way as described above, but now we make the picture 8 by 12 pixels and save it in the same way. In the chat text field we type the command /allycrest and press Enter; a window appears for entering the path to the alliance crest file; if we saved our file on disk C under the name 2.bmp, the path will be c:\2.bmp.
- At this stage the command /allyinvite is useful for inviting another clan into your alliance. When inviting, the leader of the clan you invite must be in target. All the commands connected with the alliance: /allyinvite with the nickname of the invited clan's leader invites the clan into the alliance. /allyleave leaves the alliance (the command is given by the clan leader). /allydismiss with the clan name expels a clan from the alliance (given by the alliance leader). /allydissolve dissolves the alliance (given by the alliance leader). /allycrest sets the alliance crest (given by the alliance leader). /allyinfo shows information about the alliance (in the system chat).
- Level 6 is taken for clan reputation points (CRP). It gives the possibility of creating two royal guards of 20 people each. As far as I remember now, royal guards used to be created for 10k CRP, but on all recent servers 5k CRP is for some reason charged for it.
Reputation points can be got in the following ways: by hunting war enemies (1 point is given for each enemy killed, and for each member of your clan killed by the enemies 1 point is taken from you and passed to them), by doing the quests for clan reputation, by taking part in the Festival of Darkness (teleport from the priest of dawn or dusk in the week of struggle for the seven seals), by capturing a castle (2k CRP is given for capturing a castle, and CRP is taken off for losing it), by clan members becoming heroes (1k CRP is given for each hero in the clan), or by accepting people into the clan academy. If, when taking the sixth clan level, you are told something about insufficient time for dissolving an alliance, it is a glitch; just check the number of clan members: there must be more than 30, and if necessary accept the few people missing.
- Level 7. The possibility of creating 4 orders of knights. 10k CRP is charged for creating each order.
- Level 8. At level 8 all the clan skills are available for learning.
And one more nuance that many do not know about: no-grade shields are sold in all clan halls, which can be worn only by members of a clan that has a clan hall. Well, on this shield there is a place for a picture in the centre. And the picture can be assigned in the same place where we set up the clan crest, only you have to choose not the upper part of the dialogue window but the lower one, where it says about the square emblem (I forgot the size, either 12 by 12 or 16 by 16).
Members and units
The main clan holds 10 members at level 0, then 15, 20, 30 and 40 at levels 1–4. Level 5 adds an academy for 20 newcomers. Level 6 adds two royal guards of 20 members each, level 7 adds four orders of knights of 10 members each, which brings the clan to 140 people.
In this chronicle the orders of knights grow to 25 members each at level 9 and the royal guards to 30 each at level 11, for 220 members in total.
What each level unlocks
- Level 1: the clan warehouse.
- Level 2: clan hall auctions and the clan notice board.
- Level 3: the clan crest, titles for members, clan wars and the start of Proof of Clan Alliance.
- Level 4: castle sieges and the start of Pursuit of Clan Ambition!.
- Level 5: alliances, the academy, clan reputation and clan skills.
- Levels 6 and 7: royal guards, then orders of knights, and new clan skills at every level above.
The clan academy
The academy takes characters of level 39 or lower who have no clan and have not made the second class change. It holds 20 of them, and graduates bring the clan reputation points, which is the first steady source of reputation for a level 5 clan.
First we create the academy; this is done at the same grand masters. The menu may look different in different clients: either after the line "clan" we look for the item "create academy", or we look for the item "Unit system" and create the academy in it. Here too it depends on the server settings: somewhere adena will be charged for it, somewhere one Destruction Tombstone, and somewhere it will be completely free.
After creating the academy you can accept academy members into it: characters without a clan who have not got the second profession. As soon as an academy member levels up to 40 and gets the second profession, they are thrown out of the clan and get the academy circlet and the adena you will give them (the amount of adena differs on every server and depends on the server's economy, the wealth of the clan and your greed; agree on the sum at once before accepting into the academy and do not give money in advance, but as soon as the person finishes the academy, settle up with them at once; perhaps after that they will ask to join your main clan, and you can accept them right away). Up to 20 characters can be put into the academy, so when accepting, write the date of joining and the size of the reward into their title at once, so as not to get confused later and to clean the academy in time of those who dropped out. Do not forget that if an academy member left on their own, the penalty will be theirs and not the clan's, and if you threw them out, the clan will have a one-day penalty on accepting into the clan or the academy. So you will not be able to clean the academy and recruit new newbies at once; you will have to wait a day.
And the clan is credited with CRP as a reward for training a newbie. If you accepted the person at level 16 or earlier, at the end of the training the clan will be credited with 400 reputation points; if the character's level is higher, the amount of CRP will go down, so for someone accepted into the academy at level 40 the clan will be given only 160 points. It is set up differently on all servers; there were also ones where only 200 points were given for any academy member regardless of the newbie's level (in that case you need not take risks recruiting low-level characters, but accept them at level 40 and send them for the second profession at once).
Clan skills
Starting from level 5 you can begin learning clan skills: the NPCs are the same, the line "clan skills". To learn each skill a certain amount of CRP is needed (the only exception is Clan Imperium, which is needed for the possibility of creating a command channel) and items (the so-called raid boss eggs), which drop from raid bosses.
