Two tribes north of Goddard take allies of level 74–80. This page compares the two sides, lists what every alliance level costs and explains what the marks are good for: the third class sagas, the camp shops and the S-grade recipes sold for the camp currency.
The orcs of Ketra and the goats of Varka are at war with each other, and so all the quests of one side are duplicated by the other; you will have to choose one of them, and only the quests of that side will be available to you. But that is no big deal: you can always send one character to Ketra and another to Varka.
Remember the rule at once: if you have the alliance with Varka and not only you but even somebody of your party touches a single goat, one alliance level is taken from you immediately. It would be a great pity to make the fifth alliance level and lose it through the carelessness of one of your party members. The same rule holds in Ketra. So it is better not to go in a party to the location you are allied with. I do not know whether it works when the party kicks a mob while you are in town, but better not to check. For this reason it is better to make the alliance where your whole group makes it, so as not to get in each other's way.
We will be made to decide which side to fight for from the very start, because we have to enter an alliance with one of the two races: Alliance with Ketra Orcs or Alliance with Varka Silenos.
Since all characters in Lineage 2 need the second alliance level with one of the sides to get the third profession, everybody goes through these quests. When I have to decide where to go, I go by the drop of the mobs: if I need key materials and whole A-grade weapons, I go to beat the orcs; if key materials and whole A-grade armor, the goats.
If you plan to make the highest (fifth) degree of the alliance, and it is needed to get the recipes for S-grade armor, you will have to do two more additional quests. For the fourth alliance level: Prove Your Courage! (with Ketra) and Prove Your Courage! (with Varka). For the fifth alliance level: Slay the Enemy Commander! (with Ketra) and Slay the Enemy Commander! (with Varka). Both quests are practically the same for the two sides not only in name but also in the walkthrough; they differ only in the starting NPCs and the raid bosses that have to be brought down.
The quests for the S-grade armor recipes: Battle against Varka Silenos (the war with the Varka Silenos) and Battle against Ketra Orcs (the war with the Ketra Orcs).
The quests for the
Divine Stone of Wisdom (needed for the third-profession quests of all classes) and for summoning the raid bosses Soul of Water Ashutar and Soul of Fire Nastron: Magical Power of Water - Part 1 and Magical Power of Water - Part 2, Magical Power of Fire - Part 1 and Magical Power of Fire - Part 2.
What each level costs
- Level 1: 100 soldier badges.
- Level 2: 200 soldier and 100 captain badges.
- Level 3: 300 soldier, 200 captain and 100 general badges.
- Level 4: 300 soldier, 300 captain and 200 general badges and the head of a raid boss (Prove Your Courage! or Prove Your Courage!).
- Level 5: 400 soldier, 400 captain and 200 general badges and the head of the enemy commander (Slay the Enemy Commander! or Slay the Enemy Commander!).
Badges are spent at every level, so the full road is 1,300 soldier, 1,000 captain and 500 general badges. One blow against your own allies takes a level away.

What the alliance is taken for
- The third class change. Every saga asks for
Divine Stone of Wisdom, and it is given only by Magical Power of Water - Part 1 or Magical Power of Fire - Part 1, both of which need an alliance of level 2 or higher. - S-grade recipes and parts. The Ketra trader Jumara sells boxes for
Horn of Buffalo:
Looted Goods - Blue Cargo box and
Looted Goods - Yellow Cargo box hold parts of sealed S-grade armor,
Looted Goods - White Cargo box holds parts of S-grade weapons, and
Looted Goods - Red Cargo Box and
Looted Goods - Purple Cargo Box hold 60% recipes of the sealed Imperial Crusader, Draconic Leather and Major Arcana pieces.
Looted Goods - Brown Pouch is the cheap one, with ordinary materials. - The camp itself. Allies use its grocer, its trader and, at the higher levels, its gatekeeper, and the Varka trader Shikon takes
Nepenthes Seed the same way.
