An Obvious Lie

An Obvious Lie is a one-time, party quest in Lineage 2 BoHPTS for characters of level 45+. It starts with Maximilian in Town of Giran.

High Priest Maximilian asked Gentler to make him some medicine, but the process was interrupted and has been delayed. He asks you to help Gentler.

An Obvious Lie walkthrough

A quest for getting the ear accessories: Cat Ears, Raccoon Ears or Rabbit Ears, at your choice. The starting level is 45, and the quest is not repeatable.

  1. Town of Giran. Find High Priest Maximilian in the temple and take the quest.

    The quest is taken starting from level 45 from High Priest Maximilian, who stands in the temple of Giran.

  2. Find Gentler in the magic shop. You receive: Map.

    Max will send you to the trader in the magic shop, right here in Giran. Gentler is quite the huckster, never mind that he is no dwarf, and a first-rate liar. He will kick you over to Miki the Cat.

  3. Devil's Isle (teleport from Town of Giran). Talk to Miki the Cat. Hand over: Map.

    The cat stands at the teleport point in the Devil's Isle (TP from Giran). The cat needs 20 Medicinal Herb, which are knocked out of the Alligator mobs in the Alligator Island. The cat is lost on Devil's Isle, past a tunnel with aggressive monsters. Swimming from the harbor works too, but the gatekeeper is safer.

  4. Alligator Island (teleport from Heine). Hunt Alligator (lv. 40) until you have: Medicinal Herb ×20.

    The drop is not 100%, so we go and beat.

  5. Town of Giran. Return to Gentler in the magic shop. Hand over: Medicinal Herb ×20.

    When we have knocked out 20 items, we carry them to Giran, to Gentler.

  6. Talk to Gentler again. Hand over: Spirit Ore ×500.

    He asks for 500 spirit ores: we go to the grocery shop, buy them and hand them over. And what does this greedy beast declare? That we will get the reward from the kitten. He needs the ore for the medicine. Bring it in advance and both conversations happen in one visit.

  7. Devil's Isle (teleport from Town of Giran). Return to Miki the Cat.

    We return to the Devil's Isle, to the cat. The tomcat will positively hiss with indignation. In short, we have been had.

  8. Town of Giran. Return to Gentler in the magic shop to complete the quest. Hand over: Thread ×1,000, Suede ×500.

    We go to Giran, to Gentler, and, figuratively speaking, grab him by the lapels. Pinned to the wall, the trader will demand 1000 Thread and 500 Suede. We scrape the amount together and hand it to the NPC. After that we are shown a list from which you can choose the ears you want: Cat Ears, the small pink ears of a kitten; Raccoon Ears, the small black ears of a raccoon; Rabbit Ears, the big pink-and-white ears of a rabbit.

Tips

  • You can buy all the resources at once so as not to run around later. The quest is not repeatable. One pair of ears per pair of hands.
  • Shopping list for the whole quest: 500 × Spirit Ore, 1,000 × Thread and 500 × Suede.

    Trader Gentler says that he's lost contact with Miki the Cat on Devil's Isle and asks you to deliver the map to him and get some herbs in return.

  3. Find Herbs

    Miki the Cat says that he found the herbs, but lost them when the pouch containing the herbs got torn while he was wandering around lost. He asks you to obtain 20 herbs. Get them by hunting alligators on Alligator Beach.

  4. Deliver the Herbs

    You've got all the herbs that Trader Gentler of Giran Castle Town asked for. Take them to him immediately!

  5. Collect Spirit Ore

    Gentler needs 500 more Spirit Ore to make the medicine and asks you to get them.

  6. Get Your Reward

    You ask Trader Gentler to pay you and he says that Miki the Cat has already been paid for the Spirit Ore. He tells you to get the money from him.

  7. A Lie Exposed

    Miki the Cat says he never signed any contract and sends you back to Trader Gentler in Giran Castle Town.

  8. The Final Ingredient

    Gentler apologizes and promises to make you an exquisite accessory if you'll bring him some more ingredients. He asks you to collect 1,000 thread and 500 suede.
