Test of the Maestro

Test of the Maestro is a one-time, solo quest in Lineage 2 Scryde for characters of level 39+. It starts with Lockirin in Dwarven Village.

This quest is one of the three marks of:

In order to become a maestro, you must pass the Test of Maestro. Lockirin of the Iron Gate who administers the test says that you must obtain and bring back recommendations from three other elders. Will you indeed be able to obtain recommendations from the three Dwarven elders who are known to have very high standards?

Test of the Maestro walkthrough

The third quest for the second profession of the crafter (Warsmith): Test of the Maestro. Both the spoilers and the crafters have to do the same quests at 35 and 37 (Trial of the Guildsman and Testimony of Prosperity), but at 39 the quests are different.

  1. Dwarven Village. Find Iron Gate's Lockirin in the main hall of the village and take the quest.

The third quest for the second profession of the crafter is taken in the dwarven village at level 39, in the round house opposite the teleport, where all the elders stand: we come up to Lockirin, and he explains that three tasks have to be done and three recommendations got from the elders, who stand right here in the house. Recently an unpleasant point came to light, and why it happened I still do not know. I did this quest back on the C3 chronicles, five times, and the order of actions was exactly as written below. But recently, already on C4, I read in the chat that a dwarf was not being given the task of this quest (he was doing it by this very guide). I came to the dwarves, and together we found out that Arin really does not give the task; by trial and error we found that Balanki sends you to the orcs, and after that task was done Arin gave out his own. It is unclear what the slip was and why the order changed, but keep it in mind when you do the quest.

Recommendation of Arin

  1. Find Black Anvil's Arin in the main hall of the village. You receive: Paint of Teleport Device.

    1. Black Anvil's Arin gives you the Paint of Teleport Device, blah-blah-blah; in short, Master Toma, so dearly loved by all the spoilers, has pinched a teleporter, and it has to be returned to its place. How to find this rogue is described in detail in the walkthrough Path of the Scavenger; we read carefully and go to look for the dwarf.

  2. Talk to Master Toma.

We find the thief and present our claims; Toma says that the device does not work a bit, it is broken. And he suggests that we see for ourselves by pressing the teleport button. Nothing for it, we press: we are teleported somewhere deep into the dwarven lands, and three quest mobs appear nearby.

  3. Hunt King Bugbear (lv. 32) until you have: Broken Teleport Device.

  4. Return to Master Toma. You receive: Teleport Device ×5.

We beat them and quick-quick return to Master Toma. He repairs everything quickly and gives us 5 pieces of Teleport Device.

  5. Return to Black Anvil's Arin in the main hall of the village. You receive: Recommendation of Arin.

We hand them in to Arin and get the first letter of recommendation.

Recommendation of Balanki

  1. Find Silver Scale's Balanki in the main hall of the village. You receive: Letter of Solder Detachment.

    2. Silver Scale's Balanki sends us to Chief Croto: this is the orc I often ran past, wondering why he stands here among the dwarves (he stands opposite the smithy).

  2. Talk to Chief Croto. You receive: Paint of Kamuru.

Croto sends you to the Cave of Trials (teleport from the orc village) in search of the orc Kamuru, who went missing somewhere here long ago.

  3. Cave of Trials (teleport from Orc Village). Talk to Jailer Dubabah.

We enter the cave and, crossing the bridge, turn left along the branch of the bridge. The corridor leads you to the prison cells, one of which will be open.

  4. Talk to Corpse Of Kamur.

In it you find the corpse of Kamuru and talk to it. In general it should tell that the evil eye killed it, but I was told that there is no quest for me. That is no trouble, we continue the quest. One wall in the cell is false: poke at it and the character walks through the wall.

  5. Kill Evil Eye Lord (lv. 37) to get: Necklace of Kamuru.

Farther on there will be a corridor that leads to the quest mob Evil Eye Lord of level 37; we kill it and get the Necklace of Kamuru.

  6. Dwarven Village. Return to Chief Croto.

We give it to Croto and get a paper for Balanki.

  7. Return to Silver Scale's Balanki in the main hall of the village. You receive: Recommendation of Balanki.

We hand this part in and get the second recommendation.

Recommendation of Filaur

  1. Find Gray Pillar Member Filaur in the main hall of the village. You receive: Architecture of Cruma.

    3. Gray Pillar's Filaur: this scoundrel sends us to Cruma (teleport from Dion).

  2. Cruma Tower (teleport from Town of Dion). Talk to Researcher Lorain. You receive: Ingredients of Antidote.

We teleport to the entrance of the tower, but do not go in: we turn our back to the tower, and by the exit on the right side stands the dwarf girl Lorain. She has to be helped to prepare an antidote for the poisoned researchers of Cruma.

Researcher Lorain in Lineage 2 Scryde
  3. Cruma Marshlands (teleport from Town of Dion). Hunt Giant Mist Leech (lv. 25) until you have: Leech Blood ×10.

In the marshes of Cruma we hunt the Giant Mist Leech (from the entrance of Cruma we run straight until we bump into the leeches) and knock out 10 Blood of Leech.

Giant Mist Leech in Lineage 2 Scryde
  4. Cruma Tower (teleport from Town of Dion). Hunt Stinger Wasp (lv. 30) until you have: Stinger Wasp Needle ×10.

Next we turn left (if the tower is behind your back) and look for the "striped wasp", Stinger Wasp, and knock out 10 Stinger Wasp Needle.

  5. Hunt Marsh Spider (lv. 34) until you have: Marsh Spider's Web ×10.

We run still farther (it is not far) to the spider Marsh Spider and beat until we get 10 Marsh Spider's Web. It should be noted that here, unlike in the previous quests, the developers took pity on us, and the drop of the quest items is 100%.

  6. Return to Researcher Lorain. You receive: Report of Cruma.

We hand everything in to Lorain and get the architectural plan of Cruma.

  7. Dwarven Village. Return to Gray Pillar Member Filaur in the main hall of the village. You receive: Recommendation of Filaur.

And return to the dwarven village. We have handed the plan in to Filaur and got the third letter of recommendation.

Mark of Maestro

  1. Return to Iron Gate's Lockirin in the main hall of the village to complete the quest. You receive: Mark of Maestro.

All the recommendations we hand in to Iron Gate's Lockirin and get the long-awaited mark Mark of Maestro; we check whether all three marks are in place, trot off to Giran to the head blacksmith and get the profession Warsmith.

Tips

  • Lorain hides behind the rocks to the right of the Cruma Tower entrance; all three monsters for her antidote live in the marsh around the tower.

Patience and dedication are essential if you intend to master a skill. You must remember this as you continue your practice. You are not yet ready for this quest.

(Artisans of level 39 and above may undertake this quest.)

The Test of the Maestro may only be taken by Artisans of a considerable level, learned through much hard training. It is not a test that can be taken by just anyone.

(Artisans of level 39 and above may undertake this quest.)

It has been a long time since a Dwarf has come to take the Maestro test. Youngsters these days do not appreciate the benefits of hard work... You are a notable exception, my ambitious young friend.

Actually,it is far too easy to become a Maestro these days. In the days of my youth the test was so intense that the stress would often cause physical disfigurement! Many ended up looking like Elves! These days you only need to get Recommendations from the 3 Elders...

So would you like to take the test?

  • I shall take the challenge

First, go and find the Elders in this building.

Well, then, you should first meet with the elders in this building.

Take this Dimension Diamond. You can trade it to the village gatekeeper for something special that may help you on your journey.

The First Elder cannot give Recommendations. This is one way his powers are restricted. You must receive Recommendations from the other 3 Elders.

Let's see, yes they are all here. I am impressed! I'm sure the other Elders are preoccupied with the upcoming election. Did you learn much from them? Many people covet this position and would like it for themselves. Many also fail to realize the deep significance it holds for all of us Dwarves. I pray that you become a perceptive and far-sighted Warsmith.

Ha! Well I guess you caught me! Can't get anything past you... Don't misunderstand, I didn't steal it, I just borrowed it for a while to make the machine complete. If you want it back, please help me finish my test.

  • I will help.
  • Return the teleporter at once!

Good choice! Now, hold the machine and press this button! If you are transported to the Dwarven Village then it is a success! Let's try it!

  • Press the button.
  • Do not press the button

You fool! Find me if you can!

Hey! That's unfair! Just help with the test and you'll get it back!

  • Press the button.

Come back soon! Our next experiment awaits!

Ha, Don't be too mad. Now we know what to expect on our arrival! Now give me back the machine, not the broken one... Tell the old man that we broke 5 of them. Take care, then.

Tell that old man that it broke too easily. Next time he should send something more durable.

Balanki5 pages

Obviously you have the skills... But skills alone do not guarantee success.

Could you possibly do me a favor? I would like to spend the rest of my life in service to my race.

Next year is the election for the new First Elder. But that greedy Lockirin and the Steel Gate Guild are a very formidable enemy! But if I can pull this deal off, my political fortunes would rise... But...

  • "Is there a problem?"

Well, I can't go into details, but it concerns the delivery of a certain item. I don't know how the news leaked out, but it seems that every thief around here is targeting our wagon.

I have decided to hire some Guards. The Orcs are perfect for this job.

But when I tried to hire them, the Orcs staying in the town would not listen!

Do you think you can go and persuade them? The Orc Leader's name is Croto or something like that. All I ask is that you extract a promise from them that they will send some of their mercenaries.

Time keeps passing, and not an Orc in sight! Have you met with Kroto, the leader of the Orcs? Are you taking this task seriously? If you expect to get a letter of Recommendation, go and bring those Orcs to me at once!

Good deal! Well done! Those Orcs... I'm afraid to say I doubted that they would agree for a while, but here is their promise! Thank you so very much! I wish there were more Dwarves around like you! Here is the letter of Recommendation that I promised. I shall make a place for you once I am First Elder. I hope we can work together again in the future...

Gather 3 letters of Recommendation and go to the First Elder.

Croto5 pages

This old fool just doesn't understand... The Contract was over last month! You don't know how that Dwarf feels about Orcs? Oh, damn...

Oh, well, believe what you will. Now leave, I am busy!

  • Tell him that you will do whatever it takes.

Truthfully, we were exiled from the Holy Land and have been living in a foreign village. The bitterest pill to swallow is that the altar of our ancestors is in the hands of our betrayers.

I have tried and failed several times to retrieve the altar which is being kept in the Cave of Trial.

This year we sent the army and not one has returned. My nephew Kamuru is among the lost... Possibly lost in the cave or killed by the monster... Anyway, if something has happened to him I won't be able to face my sister.

Let us make a bargain. Go to the Cave of Trial and find out what has happened to Kamuru. If he was killed by monsters, bring his belongings to me.

If you will do this favor for me, I'll fulfill the request of that old Dwarf! Do you understand?

The altar of our ancestors is in the Cave of Trial. It is a huge cave in an area frequented by Orcs. Our army was last seen heading there. My nephew was among them. If you search the cave, you may find the remains of my nephew. If he was killed by monsters, please bring his belongings to me.

I see. My nephew died a hero's death.

I am jealous in a way... He was so tragically young. His name will be inscribed forever in Pa'agrio's temple.

Now only bitter sorrow is left for this old man...

I must send reinforcements to Elder Balanki. Well done!

Thank you for letting me know of my nephew's fate! I have sent more soldiers to Elder Balanki. You may now leave safely!

We will have to discuss the research paper later! One of the team was poisoned by a monster in the dungeon! He managed to escape, but if he doesn't get an Antidote quickly he will surely die. Fortunately, all of the materials we need for the Antidote can be found around here... We must have help gathering them!

You say you are an adventurer? We must have 10 Needles of Stinger Wasps, 10 units of Leech's Blood, and 10 Cobwebs of Swamp Spider... Can you find these things, please? We'll discuss the research paper after we have saved my colleague's life.

Why are you dallying about?! We cannot afford to lose even one minute... Please collect the materials before it's too late! Do you remember all of the materials? We must have 10 Needles of Stinger Wasps, 10 units of Leech's Blood, and 10 Cobwebs of the Swamp Spider!

Ah, I see that you have gathered all the materials. Wait a moment please.

... ...

Ah, his breathing is returning to normal. The Antidote has worked! By the way, what were you here for?

  • I seek research materials.

Here is a copy of the research paper. I am not sure if it will be of any help to you. As you see, we cannot do much research with such a small group. Moreover, we constantly have to fight off these monsters and poisonous insects... Ah! My colleague awakes! You must excuse me now. Thank you very much for your help.

I have given you all the research materials that I have.

I don't mind writing you a letter of Recommendation, but first you must do something for me. In anticipation of next year's First Elder election our guild is planning to construct an amazing building. Our current skills are not up to the task. We require the technology of the ancient giants! If we can secure that our dreams will become reality.

Certainly you know of the Cruma Tower? It is where the skills of the ancient giants are preserved. I have heard that a scout team from the Black Anvil Guild is there, too. They are led by a woman named Loraine or something like that... Go and obtain the technology from them. Do what you must.

A scout team sent by the Black Anvil guild will be near the entrance to the Cruma Tower. It is lead by a woman named Lorain. You must bring me their research results, regardless of how you get it!

Is this what I have been searching for? So I judged you correctly. Well done! Here is your letter of Recommendation.

Now there is just to build our amazing building!

If you have received Recommendation letters from 3 Elders, take them to First Elder Lockirin at once. The path of the Warsmith that you desire lies ahead of you!

The Black Anvil Guild represents the pinnacle of the Dwarven race. Thanks to our efforts, the lost skills of the ancient Giants have been rediscovered. As an elder, I will ensure that our skills progress even farther and faster. Our reputation among the other races will be unparalleled!

Oh, did you say that you've come for a letter of recommendation? Very well -- I will assign you a task to determine whether you are indeed worthy of my recommendation.

A portable teleportation device invented by our guild was stolen from us some time ago. We have determined that Master Toma is the culprit, but we cannot pursue him directly at this time. Your mission is to find Master Toma, determine the truth of the charges and return the device to us if he is indeed guilty.

You will likely find him on the northern coast. When and if you return, we will talk further about the letter of recommendation...

Where is the device?! If you do not bring me the mobile Teleport Device, you will never get a Recommendation letter! I must have it in order to win the upcoming election!

Find Master Toma at once! And recover that teleport machine!

Five?! Did you say 5?! My dream... The future of my race... What shall I do...?

Whew... Yes... A Recommendation letter, you say? OK, here you go.

I need to think, so please leave me in peace.

But he is as good as dead. He has surely become a lovely meal for the Evil Eye Lord that stalks this cave. He he he...
