Test of Sagittarius

Test of Sagittarius is a one-time, solo quest in Lineage 2 Scryde for characters of level 39+. It starts with Bernard in Hunters Village.

Hamil is an amazing archer! He was named Sagittarius at the age of 20! Defeat him and you'll gain his title, the best archer in the whole kingdom!

Test of Sagittarius walkthrough

The third quest for the second profession for all the archers (Hawkeye, Silver Ranger and Phantom Ranger): Test of Sagittarius. This quest is the final one, and it is much simpler than the two previous ones (as it seems to me).

Runes in the ant nest

  1. Hunters Village. Find Guild President Bernard in the Warriors Guild and take the quest. You receive: Bernard's Introduction.

The quest is taken at level 39 from Guild President Bernard in the building behind the gatekeeper's back in Hunters Village.

Where to find Guild President Bernard: map of Hunters Village
  2. Floran Village. Find Sagittarius Hamil by the bridge. You receive: Hamil's 1st Letter.

Bernard sends us to the NPC Sagittarius Hamil, who is next to Floran Village, not in the village itself but by the windmill. Hamil is the key NPC of this quest. To get to him we teleport from Dion to the location Plains of Dion and run towards Floran; on seeing the windmill, we swim across the puddle and find ourselves by the NPC. The mobs that aggro on the way need not be beaten, they will not swim after you.

  3. Wasteland (teleport from Gludin Village). Find Sir Aron Tanford at the ranch.

Without going into the lyrics of the quest, let us say that Hamil sends you to the location Wasteland (teleport from Gludin Village); from the teleport point we run to the sea, and by a little house stands Sir Aron Tanford. If you do not want to spend adena on the teleport, you can run on foot from Hamil to Aron, it is not that far.

  4. The Ant Nest (teleport from Town of Gludio). Hunt Ant (lv. 30), Ant Captain (lv. 31), Ant Overseer (lv. 32), Ant Patrol (lv. 34), Ant Guard (lv. 35), Noble Ant (lv. 37), Noble Ant Leader (lv. 38) until you have: Hunter's 1st Rune ×10.

Aron Tanford sends you to the Ant Nest (teleport from Gludio). We go inside the anthill and beat various small ants until we get 10 Hunter's Rune.

  5. Floran Village. Return to Sagittarius Hamil by the bridge. You receive: Hamil's 2nd Letter.

We collect them and return to Hamil at Floran Village (there is no need to go to Aron).

The snake talisman

  1. Town of Giran. Find Prefect Vokian in the Orc Guild.

As the next point we are sent to the orcs in Giran, namely to Prefect Vokian; naturally, he stands in the orc guild of Giran.

  2. Breka's Stronghold (teleport from Town of Giran). Hunt Breka Orc Shaman (lv. 34), Breka Orc Overlord (lv. 35) until you have: Hunter's 2nd Rune ×10.

Vokian sends us to the location Breka's Stronghold (teleport from Giran); to the right of the teleport point there will be two mobs Breka Orc Overlord and two mobs Breka Orc Shaman. We dash between them and beat; runes will drop from the mobs, and as soon as we knock out 10 pieces, we at once get the Talisman of Snake as well.

  3. Town of Giran. Return to Prefect Vokian in the Orc Guild.

With all this stuff we go to Vokian.

  4. Floran Village. Return to Sagittarius Hamil by the bridge. You receive: Hamil's 3rd Letter.

And after that to Hamil again.

Crescent Moon Bow

  1. Ivory Tower. Find Magister Gauen on the Elven floor of the tower.

From Hamil our way lies to the Ivory Tower (teleport from Oren). In the tower we teleport to the third floor (you have to choose the item "teleport to other floors") to the NPC Magister Gauen, who loads us with a new task. We have to find and beat four mobs until we get four items from them.

  2. Hunt Manashen Gargoyle (lv. 40) until you have: Manashen's Horn.

The mob Manashen Gargoyle in the location Ivory Tower Crater, until we get the item Manashen's Horn.

Manashen Gargoyle in Lineage 2 Scryde
  3. Death Pass. Hunt Road Scavenger (lv. 37) until you have: Mithril Clip.

The mob Road Scavenger in the location Death Pass, until we get the item Mithril Clip.

Road Scavenger in Lineage 2 Scryde
  4. Cruma Tower (teleport from Town of Dion). Hunt Marsh Spider (lv. 34) until you have: Reinforced Bowstring.

The mobs Marsh Spider and Marsh Stakato Drone in the location Cruma Marshlands, until we get the items Reinforced Bowstring and Stakato Chitin respectively.

Marsh Spider in Lineage 2 Scryde
  5. Hunt Marsh Stakato Worker (lv. 31), Marsh Stakato Soldier (lv. 33), Marsh Stakato Drone (lv. 35) until you have: Stakato Chitin.

Marsh Stakato Worker in Lineage 2 ScrydeMarsh Stakato Soldier in Lineage 2 Scryde
  6. Ivory Tower. Return to Magister Gauen on the Elven floor of the tower. You receive: Crescent Moon Bow.

As soon as we knock out all the items, we return to the Ivory Tower to Magister Gauen, hand them in and get a no-grade bow (attack 34) and a dozen arrows, also no-grade, with which we have to return to Hamil. Here I will warn you at once that you will beat the last quest mob precisely with this no-grade bow, so right away, in the nearest shop, buy some no-grade arrows (what if you are strikingly unlucky and the 10 arrows you were given are not enough) and no-grade soulshots for a warrior (I think 100 pieces will do).

Kadesh

  1. Floran Village. Return to Sagittarius Hamil by the bridge.

We show the bow to Hamil, and he at once sends you to the last quest mob. Hurrah, one step is left until the end of the quest. But! The developers would not be the developers if they had not thought up this thing: for the quest mob to appear, a hundred ordinary ones have to be finished off. Wow, how unexpected.

  2. Plains of the Lizardmen (teleport from Town of Oren). Hunt Leto Lizardman (lv. 35), Leto Lizardman Archer (lv. 36), Leto Lizardman Soldier (lv. 37), Leto Lizardman Warrior (lv. 38), Leto Lizardman Shaman (lv. 39), Leto Lizardman Overlord (lv. 40).

In short, our way lies farther to the location Plains of the Lizardmen (teleport from Oren), where, strange as it may seem, we will beat lizards, and precisely those that have the words Leto Lizardman in the name. The item Blood of Lizardman will drop from them. The drop is 100%, and more than 100 pieces have to be collected. After the hundred the quest mob can climb out of any corpse. The last time it appeared for me on the 129th body.

Leto Lizardman in Lineage 2 ScrydeLeto Lizardman Soldier in Lineage 2 Scryde
  3. Kill Serpent Demon Kadesh (lv. 41) to get: Talisman of Kadesh.

As soon as this very quest Serpent Demon Kadesh appears, we take the quest bow and arrows in hand and start firing them at the mob. Do not forget to switch on the no-grade soulshots (I switched the soulshots on in advance and put the quest bow on the quick panel).

Serpent Demon Kadesh in Lineage 2 Scryde
  4. Floran Village. Return to Sagittarius Hamil by the bridge. You receive: Mark of Sagittarius.

From the mob we get the Talisman of Kadesh and go to Hamil to get the mark Mark of Sagittarius. The quest is done.

  5. After doing all three quests and getting the three marks, the Silver Ranger and the Hawkeye have to go to the warriors guild in Giran to Grand Master Hannavalt, and the Phantom Ranger to the dark elven guild in Giran to Grand Master Angus. In the dialogue choose the top line, the one about asking about a change of profession, choose our profession and press the line "change the profession". Congratulations, you have got the second profession.

Tips

  • Each of the four bow parts is a single rare drop, so the materials take longer than the numbers suggest. The marsh spiders and stakatos are around Cruma Tower, the manashen gargoyles in the crater of the Ivory Tower and the road scavengers in Death Pass.

Sagittarians are those who are known as the best bowmen of this kingdom. A hundred years ago, when the dragon Lindvior attacked Castle Aden, a bowman named Atlanta shot an arrow right through the dragon's eye. For this he was given the first title as a Sagittarius. Right now there are just 33 Sagittarians in the world.

If you want to be recognized as an exemplary bowman, you may take the Test of Sagittarius and prove your ability. Many hunters and bowmen have taken the test this year and failed. You must be well above average to pass this test... I heard that you are skillful but as I see it, from the perpective of a Guild President... You are not good enough. Train some more before you come back.

(Quest for Rogues, Elven Scouts and Assassins, level 39 and above.)

Do you have any idea of what the Test of the Sagittarius is? Only Humans may take this test. Why are you here with an arrow? You'll only make yourself a laughingstock...

(Quest for Rogues, Elven Scouts and Assassins, level 39 and above.)

Sagittarians are those who are known as the best bowmen in this kingdom. A hundred years ago, when the Gold Dragon Lindvior attacked Castle Aden, a bowman by the name of Atlanta shot an arrow right through the dragon's eye. For this he was given the first title as a Sagittarius. At the moment there are just 33 Sagittarians in the world.

If you wish to be recognized as an exemplary bowman, you may take the Test of the Sagittarius and prove your ability. Many hunters and bowmen took the test this year, and all failed. I warn you, if your skills are not good enough to shoot down a flying eagle, you might as well not even try.

  • I will take the test.

Hmm... All right, you may try. First go and meet Hamil of Floran Village. He is originally from Innadril. He is a genius of archery, who received the title of Sagittarius at the age of 20. He has instructed many archers twice his age!

Ha! To tell you the truth, it is more important for you to win Hamil's approval rather than mine for the test. Take this Letter of Introduction to him. Hamil will have a task for you. Perform it well, young one. May the joy of the chase and the reward of the hunt be with you!

Hmmm . . . well, go ahead and try. My advice is to first visitHamil from Floran Village. He is a native of Innadril and an amazing archer -- he earned the nickname Sagittarius before he was even out of his teens. In fact, much more experienced archers even used to come to him for training.

To pass this test, you must impress Hamil. Take this introduction letter to him and he will tell you what task to perform. Good luck, youngster. May the joy of the hunt be with you!

Before you set off, accept this Dimension Diamond. You can trade it for something special from the village gatekeeper. I'm sure it prove helpful to you on your journey.

As I said, you must see Hamil of Floran Village if you wish to receive the Mark of the Sagittarius.

Nice to meet you, young Warrior. Did Bernard send you here? We are in need of help. Your arrival is most timely.

There is evil afoot in the southern part of the kingdom. The wasteland ants are on the move, and from the east, the Breka Orcs are restive... On top of all this, something weird is happening at the Cruma Tower. The Dwarves are all aflutter about it... Something has awoken beneath the tower...

I have the feeling that our troubles have just begun... I believe there is more to come, something even bigger.... If only we could find Brankel, we would have more precise information...

  • Ask about Brankel

Brankel was sent here before me and left before I arrived.

Before leaving he entrusted a letter with Merchant Pano addressed to me. I sensed danger even before Brankel was sent here.

  • "What does the letter say?"

I will read the letter to you:

I am leaving now for the Ant's Nest and I'm not sure if I shall return... I will try to leave clues for you to follow me. Please hurry, brother.

Brankel

...I wish I could follow him right away, but I am busy defending the village from the Leto Lizardmen... Dammit!

Please go to the Wastelands and try to find Brankel. If you are unable to find him, look for the traces he said he would leave. The wastelands guardian Aaron Tanford is expecting you at the southern entrance of the Wastelands.

You must leave now!

There is no time to lose! You must go and meet Aaron Tanford immediately!

Ah, hunter's runes written on the pebbles...? Yes, this is the secret code used by hunters. We must place the pebbles in order...

  • Place the Hunter's Runes

Hmm... Let's see...

Ant's Nest... deep... black serpent... egg..., dark, no, abyss...!? child of abyss...! Hmm, this is...! Yes, here we go! 'In the hands of the children of abyss'... 'to the Breka Orcs'...

'the black serpent's egg' to the 'children of abyss'...?

The castle of the evil Beleth once stood in the present-day Wastelands... This is why there are so many malevolent artifacts there. Perhaps the black egg that Brankel mentioned has something to do with Beleth...

  • Ask about the Children of Abyss

Those heathen followers of the Goddess of Destruction. Or should I say 'The children of Shilen'... Bah!

I am sure that race is behind the mischief that has been going on lately!

You must hurry and go to Giran! If what Brankel says is true, the Breka Orcs are having the black egg delivered to them! Are these the only runes you found? There are likely more of them so keep searching.

You should go to the Town of Giran and meet Prefect Vokian. He owes me a favor, and will certainly help. Some things only an Orc can do. Ask him about the Breka Orcs.

Prefect Vokian is an old friend of mine. He saved my life once and I saved his twice! Out of the death crisis. You must hurry to the Town of Giran and meet him. I hope to hear good news from you soon.

Who would have thought that they could mobilize those savage heathens to join in their plot?

Lets see what Brankel has to say...

Oh, no, we are too late! The Orc shamans have revived the serpent and awakened the Commander! Ah, yes... Commander Kadesh! I hoped to never hear that name again....

He is a devil who appears as a serpent. It was he who spread blood and pestilence in this land of south Oren long ago... Devils such as he are not of this earth and are not easily killed. Brankel mentions the Crescent Arrow. But the crescent arrow...

Never mind, we'll deal with that later. You must go to the Ivory tower of Oren and meet Magister Gauen. I believe that he is the keeper of the Crescent Arrow...

No one has more experience against Commander Kadesh than Magister Gauen of the Ivory Tower. His assistance is essential. Go and meet him now.

Brankel lives! I met with him shortly before he left for the south of Oren. Commander Kadesh is currently surviving off the flesh of Leto Lizardmen.

Dammit! I should've gone with Brankel!

Oh! Look! The crescent arrow! I haven't seen it in 20 years! Take it and follow Brankel! Kill the Leto Lizardmen and Kadesh will appear! Kill him with the crescent arrow!

You mustn't use any other method or skill, or the power of the arrow will disappear and Kadesh will survive!

As time passes, Commander Kadesh grows stronger. Kill his food source, the Leto Lizardmen. When Kadesh appears, kill him with the crescent arrow! If you use a skill or another method, the power of the arrow will disappear and Kadesh will survive!

Don't forget! Never use a skill to kill Kadesh!

So you haven't found Brankel... He is searching for the heathens? He is noble indeed. He was correct, they must be up to something else. Commander Kadesh is not their final goal...

This amulet holds clues for us... The seven eyes... This is the mark of the children of Shilen. I must report this to the hunter's union immediately. I will also return the crescent arrow to the Ivory Tower of Oren.

Thank you for your help. You have done more in this matter than Brankel or myself...

You are a Sagittarius. Take this Mark of Sagittarius. I hope that we shall hunt together sometime in the future.

Vokian5 pages

So, you work for Hamil! He saved my life in a battle with the medusas... I can't deny him anything...

Recently someone who called himself Hunter Brankel came to me and asked for help. He knew quite a bit about the Breka Orcs... When he left he set off for the campsite of the Breka tribe.

  • Explain the situation

Breka Orcs! Those filthy betrayers degrade the dignity of Orcs! They should all be sent to hell painfully!

You say that the Breka tribe has been given the serpent's egg from the devil's nest? Yes, that stands to reason as their totem was a coiled serpent...

Seer Manakia tells me that the Breka Orcs are preparing for a big ceremony right now... Perhaps the serpent's egg has something to do with it!

Please, you must go there, find out whatever you can and then kill every single Chief and Shaman of the Breka Orcs! If you can find a Serpent-Shaped Charm, bring it back to me.

Mercy is a luxury that filthy betrayers can ill afford! The Chiefs and Magisters of Breka Orcs are the ringleaders of the corruption! You should be able to extract some information from them! If you should find a snake-shaped amulet please bring it to me!

This amulet will summon the spirits of the totem! Could those filthy Breka Orcs be trying to revive their long-dead totem spirit?

Those foolish pigs have been deceived by the heathens into believing that hatching the devil serpent will restore the spirit of their totem!

I know that Brankel would not have gone along with this. Could these runes be a message from him? I can't read this, but Hamil knows it well. Take it to him. I wish you luck!

Please tell Hamil that I wish to see him again on the battlefield. I cannot repay my debt to him this way.

Gauen4 pages

I am Magister Gauen. Ah, yes, Commander Kadesh and the Crescent Arrow... That is a story that I'll never forget. Commander Kadesh is the most daring among all the sons of Shilen. He eats like a horse, yet he is always hungry! He is constantly growing... This caused anxiety among the Gods, and they gave instructions to the Elves on how to kill him with the Crescent Arrow. This arrow was kept in the Ivory Tower for a long time, and 20 years ago became useless...

...but if what you are saying is true, we need the arrow...

I can restore the arrow, but it will not be easy. Most of the materials I will need you can find in the Ivory Tower, but some you'll have to find elsewhere... A horn from a manashen gargoyle, a Reinforced Bowstring made of the swamp spider's web, a Mithril Ring which can be obtained from a road scavenger and a chitin of a swamp stakato which can be obtained from a Marsh Stakato worker, a Marsh Stakato soldier, or a Marsh Stakato drone.

Here is the Crescent Bow. This bow is different from other bows, as there is magic in it designed to kill Commander Kadesh. Keep in mind that you can only shoot a Wooden Arrow with this bow.

You must kill Commander Kadesh with the Crescent Bow. Right now he is still somewhat weak but as time goes by he will grow stronger and cause more damage. First you must go to Hamil and find out where Commander Kadesh is located.

Go now. The Ivory Tower wishes you victory.

To reconstitute the Crescent Arrow we need the materials that I previously requested. The horns of Manasen, a Reinforced Bowstring made of the swamp spider's web, a Mithril Ring which can be taken from a road scavenger and a chitin that can be obtained from a swamp stakato worker, a swamp stakato soldier or a swamp stakato drone. Please hurry and get these items for me.

20 years ago Hamil and my master prevented the rebirth of Commander Kadesh... Take this bow to Hamil immediately!

Sir Aron Tanford3 pages

Sir Aaron Tanford

Nice to meet you, young Warrior. I am Aaron Tanford, watchdog of the Wastelands. My mission is to stop the brutes that are terrorizing the villagers...

  • Show him the letter from Hamil

Sir Aaron Tanford

About 10 days ago, two travelers entered the Wastelands claiming they had come to excavate artifacts of the empirical era. Although I doubted their story I didn't stop them. When I spoke with Hunter Brankel a few days later, I realized that I had made a grave mistake. They were not archaeologists, but a bunch of ravenous heathens!

As you know, the castle of the evil Beleth once stood where the Wastelands are now. I am sure these heathens seek the remains of that devil! Brankel went to the Ant's Nest of the Wastelands to try to determine their motives. I haven't heard from him since...

I am sorry but this is all I know.

Sir Aaron Tanford

I fear for Hunter Brankel, but what worries me more is what those heathen may do with the remains of Beleth... I must stay here, so I beseech you, go to the Ant's Nest of the Wastelands and find out what is going on there.
