Saga of the Archmage
Saga of the Archmage is a one-time, solo quest in Lineage 2 Scryde for characters of level 76+. It starts with Valleria in Ivory Tower.
A Sorcerer must obtain the power sealed in the Tablets of Vision to become an Archmage.
Saga of the Archmage walkthrough
The quest for the third profession, Saga of the Archmage (Succession to the Legend Archmage): Sorcerer becomes Archmage.
Allies and the first amulet
Ivory Tower. Find Grand Magister Valleria on the Human floor of the tower and take the quest.
The quest Saga of Archmage (Succession to the Legend Archmage), the third profession for the Sorcerer, is taken on reaching level 76 in the Ivory Tower, on the second floor, from Grand Magister Valleria.
Town of Goddard. Find Magister Justin in the Mages Guild.
From her we run to the temple of Goddard and look there in the mystic guild for the NPC Magister Justin (into the temple and to the right).
Hot Springs (teleport from Town of Goddard). Talk to Information Broker Mist.
Now we have to visit the location Hot Springs, where the nasty gnome Information Broker Mist splashes about in one of the pools; he needs the Ice Crystal. The sly ones have already done the quest The Finest Ingredients by this moment, and the crystal is in your quest inventory. If so, we talk to Mist again; if not, we go to get the crystal.
Talk to Information Broker Mist again. You receive:
Investigative Report.Town of Goddard. Return to Magister Justin in the Mages Guild. You receive:
Resonance Amulet - 1.In the end we exchange the Ice Crystal for some thingy and return to Justin in Goddard. He gives the first resonance amulet, which has to be carried to the first tablet.
First three tablets
Plains of Glory. Talk to Tablet of Vision.
The first tablet is the same for all classes, and it stands between Oren and Aden, not far from the Tower of Insolence. So we teleport to the Tower of Insolence and, without entering the tower, run towards the tablet (I usually leave a cat by this tablet so as not to run far).
Monastery of Silence (teleport from Town of Goddard). Hunt Guardian of Forbidden Knowledge (lv. 76) until you have:
Resonance Amulet - 2.We activate the tablet and learn that the second resonance amulet and the second tablet are in the Valley of Saints, and the amulet itself has to be knocked out of the angels that circle round the tablet in great numbers. The amulet drops from the last angel (that is the rule on PTS servers; on Java ones it drops from the 4th mob). You may be in a party while doing it, and you may be healed. In general all the professions are sent to the Valley of Saints, but there are several tablets and groups of angels there; which of them you need is shown on the map. The angels stand below, in deep pits. The Sorcerers have to run a long, long way from the teleport point along the path on the right side; there are no mobs there, but the run is really long, I even used to go through Schuttgart and the Frozen Labyrinth; in any case check by the map. We stack all the Guardian of Forbidden Knowledge in a little heap (no need to pluck them); the resonance amulet drops from the last one.
Talk to Tablet of Vision.
We talk to the second tablet, and it tells us that at the third tablet a monster awaits you; by defeating it you get the next amulet. The third tablet of the Sorcerers is at the very end of the Wall of Argos, where the x6 angels live. The Sorcerers can of course fight their way through this whole crowd, but bear in mind that the mobs are x6, and you will certainly run low on mana, more than once, and will have to sit down and regenerate mana. So we take a blade dancer with Dance of Shadow along and calmly trudge there, paying no attention to the mobs.
Shrine of Loyalty. Talk to Tablet of Vision.
Kill Fallen Angel Allector (lv. 76) to get:
Resonance Amulet - 3.A quest mob climbs out of the third tablet, and it has to be beaten. When you took the profession quest, a little book dropped into your inventory; if you click on it, it opens, and in it is written how to defeat this mob. For the Sorcerers nothing much is written there, so simply nuke and kite. The mob is called Fallen Angel Allector.

Return to Tablet of Vision.
The next amulet drops from the mob, we activate the tablet, and an entry appears in the quest that we have to return to Justin in the temple of Goddard.
Divine Stone and the fourth tablet
Town of Goddard. Return to Magister Justin in the Mages Guild.
He needs the Divine Stone of Wisdom. If you did the quests in Varka or Ketra beforehand, the little stone is already with you; if not, you will have to go and do them: first get the second level of the alliance with Ketra or Varka (Alliance with Ketra Orcs or Alliance with Varka Silenos), and then, depending on whether you chose the alliance with the orcs or with the goats (oh, oh, not goats but FAUNS), the quest for the Divine Stone of Wisdom: Magical Power of Fire or Magical Power of Water. In short, in the end you must have the Divine Stone of Wisdom in your inventory (the ordinary one). Justin asks where you will go to get the little stone, to Ketra or to Varka; you can choose any answer, it decides nothing: the main thing is that you do the quests and bring the stone, and where exactly from makes no difference to him.
Talk to Magister Justin again. You receive:
Resonance Amulet - 4.In any case, having got the stone, we give it to the NPC, and in return he gives the fourth amulet. So we have to run to the fourth tablet. It is one for all classes and is next to Ketra; there are no mobs on the way, so we teleport to the entrance of Ketra, get on the path and run along the road to the left, if you stand facing the location.
Garden of Beasts. Talk to Tablet of Vision.
Halisha's minions and the last tablets
Town of Goddard. Return to Magister Justin in the Mages Guild.
After the dialogue with the fourth tablet we go to Goddard to Justin again; the next task is to beat 700 mobs in the location Shrine of Loyalty, and out of the 701st a quest mob jumps and gives up the amulet. Well, if we do not want to beat so many mobs, he agrees to an alternative, for which the Four Sepulchers have to be passed. Which way you choose depends only on you; I usually beat the mobs.
Shrine of Loyalty. Hunt Grave Scarab (lv. 73), Scavenger Scarab (lv. 73), Grave Ant (lv. 74), Scavenger Ant (lv. 74), Shrine Knight (lv. 75), Shrine Guard (lv. 75) until you have:
Halisha's Mark ×700.We set off for the Shrine of Loyalty and collect 700 items Halisha's Mark; out of the 701st the Archon of Halisha climbs. The mob is sluggish and drops the next amulet.
Kill Archon of Halisha (lv. 76) to get:
Resonance Amulet - 5.Borderland Fortress. Talk to Tablet of Vision.
Having got the amulet, we set out for the fifth tablet. It is the same for all classes and is right here, in the Wall of Argos, only it is handier to reach it by returning to Goddard and teleporting to the entrance of the location again. From the teleport point we turn left, run past two glades with deer and run onto a big glade on the left (also with deer). At the far end stands the fifth tablet.
Rune Harbor. Talk to Tablet of Vision.
The fifth tablet tells you that it remains to get the last, sixth resonance amulet, which is next to the last tablet in the Forest of the Dead, only not by the teleport: you will have to run to it first along the right side over the hills and then drive a few ordinary mobs away from the tablet. We talk to the tablet, and nearby appear the NPC Truth Scholar Devianne and the quest mob Unknown Stopper. Naturally, we beat the quest mob. You will not kill it, but soon it disappears, shouting something about a speedy revenge on you for meddling in what is not your business.
Talk to Tablet of Vision again.
Ivory Tower. Return to Grand Magister Valleria on the Human floor of the tower to complete the quest.
We talk to Truth Scholar Devianne, and she hands over the last amulet. We activate the tablet and return to Ivory Tower to Grand Magister Valleria. We get the profession Archmage, some adena (from 5kk to 50kk, depending on the rates) and the book Secret Book of Giants.
Tips
- Collect
Ice Crystal and
Divine Stone of Wisdom before you start: both come from side quests, and with them in the bag the saga is one continuous trip. - The marks are counted per character, but monsters of the Shrine of Loyalty die much faster in a party, and several players can collect at the same time.
Ice Crystal is the reward of the repeatable quest The Finest Ingredients - Part 1, which Jeremy gives at the Hot Springs.

To become an Archmage you have to transcend your life as a Human and live as a god. You must unlock the power of the gods, sealed long ago to prevent Humans from accessing it.
- "How do I get it?"
I still think Archmage is beyond your reach.
(This quest may only be undertaken by a character level 76 or above.)
To put it simply, you can't just read the text on the Tablet of Vision, you must have a Resonance Amulet. It gives you a direct transmission of the knowledge if you commune with the tablet. This amulet is quite rare, but has been sighted recently. Ask Magister Justin of the Town of Goddard about what to do next. Here, take a guild newsletter with you.
To become an Archmage, you must receive the contents of six Tablets of Vision. They are scattered about the world.
Meet Magister Justin of the Town of Goddard, he'll tell you what to do next.
The gods sealed the Tablets of Vision and scattered them all over the world. If you commune with all six, you shall obtain great power! Once you do that, I'll grant you Archmage status. It won't be easy.
I heard the news: you have gained the power of all the tablets. Well done!
Is there something else? Ah, you want me to tell you the truth? Hmmm. You must have spoken with Devianne. I suppose I always knew this day would come...
I have anointed countless disciples over the years. Most of them have fallen in battle like leaves in autumn. That is why I have no wish to see you, my disciple, become more deeply involved in this war. The stronger you become, the more dangers you will encounter -- you will become a target of many, many others. That is why I tried to block your advancement.
I also tried to stop you by sending Fallen Angel Allector, but it failed. Finally, I tried to intervene to stop you myself at the final tablet. But Devianne interfered and things become...complicated. But if this is just the two of you, there shouldn't be much trouble...
- Ask why he withdrew on his own.
When we battled, I realized you had become better than all my previous disciples. You can handle yourself now, I see that. That's why I withdrew.
It's time to release you from my care. Forgive me, but I had good intentions.
I now bestow upon you the title of Archmage!
When we battled, I realized you had become better than all my previous disciples. You can handle yourself now, I see that. That's why I withdrew.
You still need to grow a little before you can become an Archmage.
(Class transfer is allowed only for characters of level 76 or above. Do not abandon quest before transfer is complete!)
You've done well. I bestow upon you the title of Archmage!
I can't allow you to become an Archmage yet!

Grand Magister Valleria didn't know that I'm conducting an investigation under the guise of Justin. In a letter I intercepted Valleria wanted Justin to discourage you from becoming an Archmage! Don't worry, since I'm not bound to him I can still tell you what you need to do to become one.
- "What are you investigating?"
Visit Information Broker Mist at the hot springs resort and pick up the Investigative Report I requested. Tell him the truth seeker sent you. Bring the report and I'll tell you how to get the power of the six stone tablets.
Thanks for the report. This merits further investigation.
To become an Archmage, you'll need a Resonance Amulet for each of the six stone tablets. Use the amulets to commune with the tablets and your path will become clear.
Here's the first Resonance Amulet, take it to the Tablet of Vision.
- "How will my path become clear?"
Commune with the Tablet of Vision south of the Tower of Insolence with the Resonance Amulet I gave you. The path will then become clear.
I'll tell you in due time.
Meet with Information Broker Mist at the hot springs resort. Get the Investigative Report I asked for. Tell him the silver light wanderer sent you. Bring back the report and I'll tell you of the six stone tablets.
Resonance Amulets and Tablets of Vision have a magical mutual attraction. You can use this force to locate the Tablets of Vision.
Put simply, when you have a Resonance Amulet, the location of the corresponding Tablet of Vision will appear in your mind. After you commune with it, the location of the next Resonance Amulet will be revealed to you. This process will become clear to you as you move along.
Now take the first Resonance Amulet I gave you and find the Tablet of Vision south of the Tower of Insolence!
You say you fought with Allector, the fallen angel?
How could he have escaped the prison in the Ivory Tower? He must have had help. But who? It could only be ....
I shouldn't say, I need more proof. I have the Resonance Amulet, but it's unstable. You'll need the other fragment.
- "How can I get it?"
Then visit the Ketra Orcs to get the missing fragment, the Divine Stone of Wisdom. If you earn the trust of Asefa, guide of dead souls, through Ketra's Messenger Wahkan and prove to her your wisdom, you'll find it.
If you change your mind halfway, you can get it from the best Shaman of Varka Silenos, Soul Guide Udan Mardui through Varka's Messenger Naran Ashanuk. Just bring it to me.
Then visit the Varka Silenos to get the missing fragment, the Divine Stone of Wisdom. If you earn the Soul Guide Udan Mardui through Varka's Messenger Naran Ashanuk and prove to her your wisdom, you'll find it.
If you change your mind halfway, you can get it from the best Shaman of Ketra Orcs, Soul Guide Asefa through through Ketra's Messenger Wahkan, just bring it to me.
Go to the Ketra Orcs or the Varka Silenos to get the missing fragment, the Divine Stone of Wisdom
. They both know the mysterious knowledge of the stone, but not its exact use. They'll give it to the wisest of the tribe. So, it is presented as some kind of mark for 'the wisest man of the tribe.' If you earn the trust of Asefa, guide of dead souls, through Ketra's Messenger Wahkan and prove to her your wisdom, you'll find it. Or, you can get the Divine Stone of Wisdom from Soul Guide Udan Mardui through Varka's Messenger Naran Ashanuk by gaining his trust and proving your wisdom. Either way is fine.
The Divine Stone of Wisdom! Good work.
My hunch was right. The only person who could have freed Allector is indeed the Grand Magister of the Ivory Tower! Never let your guard down, there are powerful forces trying to stop you!
Shall I combine the stones now?
- "By all means!"
Take the Resonance Amulet I gave you and go to the next Tablet of Vision on the north side of the Varka Silenos barracks.
Go to the Ketra Orcs or the Varka Silenos to get the Divine Stone of Wisdom, a fragment of the Resonance Amulet.
They know of its powerful magic, but not its exact use. They'll reward the wisest of their tribe with it. You'll need to earn the trust of Asefa, chief shaman of the Ketra Orcs, or Udan Mardui, chief shaman of the Varka Silenos.
Which side will you choose?
- The Ketra Orcs
- The Varka Silenos
Now it's a complete Resonance Amulet. Go find the Tablet of Vision on the north of the Varka Silenos Barracks.
Now I must continue my investigation into who is trying to stop you from becoming an Archmage.
I'll need this stone myself, but I can tell you how to get your own.
- "How do I get one?"
You can get the next stone by killing the Archon of Halisha in the Four Sepulchers. You'll need help to gain entry.
If that proves too difficult, go to the Shrine of Loyalty and slay Halisha's minions. If you collect 700 Halisha's Marks, the Archon will appear.
The minions include Grave Scarabs, Scavenger Scarabs, Grave Ants, Scavenger Ants, Shrine Knights, and Shrine Guards.
