Keen Claws

Keen Claws is a repeatable, solo quest in Lineage 2 BoHPTS for characters of level 3–9. It starts with Payne in Dark Elf Village.

Trader Payne, a famous maker of arrowheads, has developed a unique arrow that uses a wolf claw as its arrowhead! It is most effective in siege situations. Recently he was asked by Sir Kiel Nighthawk to make hooked arrows from wolf claws. In order to make the arrows in time, he needs someone to help him to collect the ingredients. Collect and bring him fifty wolf claws.

Keen Claws walkthrough

The quest Keen Claws, for a random reward. Start level: 3. Start location: the village of the dark elves. Start NPC: Trader Payne (Payne). No requirements. Repeatable. No race restrictions, any race can do it. Reward: a random choice.

  1. Dark Elf Village. Take the quest from Armor Merchant Payne.

A quest for a random item; I do not know the full list, but do not hope to be given something extraordinary at the third level. It is available from level 3 and is taken from Trader Payne, the huckster in the armor and weapon shop.

  2. The Shilen Temple. Hunt Ashen Wolf (lv. 4), Goblin (lv. 5) until you have: Wolf Claw ×50.

Payne sends you to beat the mobs Ashen Wolf and Goblin; we go out through the exit by which we came into the village from the gremlins. 50 items have to be farmed; the drop is not 100% but good, and 4 items at once may drop from a mob, though mostly 1-2 drop. I beat this quest a bit, and here is what turned out: from the wolves the items drop 100%, but 1-2, no more, while from the goblins the drop is not a hundred per cent, but many items may drop at a time; a couple of times 7 pieces dropped for me at once. While I ran about the quest an idea was born that justifies such a drop: we are farming wolf claws, and naturally they drop from the wolves, but either one or two, no more, which is natural. And the goblins hunt the wolves themselves and collect claws too, so nothing may drop from a goblin if it has not collected anything yet, and very many may drop if the goblin is a thrifty one. How do you like that? I am shocked myself. The mob Ashen Wolf takes part in two quests, so it is advisable to do the quest Shilen's Hunt at the same time as this one.

  3. Dark Elf Village. Return to Armor Merchant Payne to complete the quest. Hand over: Wolf Claw ×50.

Having farmed fifty items, we return to the start huckster. By analogy with roughly the same quest in the human village, where 40 items had to be knocked out of wolves, the reward should have been all sorts of no-grade things like gloves, boots and similar stuff; but remembering the analogous quest in the dwarven village, where 40 items also have to be farmed from wolves and only one scroll of escape is given as a reward, I would not count on anything much. And so it happened that I was given just one little jar for running. Later I ran this quest with another character: mostly 50 adena and the most newbie gloves are given, but a scroll of escape, a scroll of resurrection, a pack of no-grade spiritshots (300 pieces) were given too, and twice even an SA crystal of level 4. So it makes sense to bother, especially on C4, where SA crystals are not sold in the luxury shop at all.
