Saga of the Soultaker

Saga of the Soultaker is a one-time, solo quest in Lineage 2 Scryde for characters of level 76+. It starts with Hardin in Hardin's Academy.

Hardin asks you to investigate Necromancer Hindemith, who has been spotted lurking around the Tablets of Vision.

The quest for the third profession, Saga of the Soultaker (Succession to the Legend Soultaker): Necromancer becomes Soultaker.

Allies and the first amulet

  1. Hardin's Academy. Take the quest from Hardin.

    The quest Saga of Soultaker (Succession to the Legend Soultaker), the third profession for the Necromancer, is taken on reaching level 76 in the private Hardin's Academy (teleport from Giran, Oren or Hunters Village) from Hardin himself.

  2. Town of Goddard. Find High Priest Gregory in the Mages Guild.

    From him we run to the temple of Goddard and look there for the NPC High Priest Gregory (right in the centre).

  3. Hot Springs (teleport from Town of Goddard). Talk to Information Broker Bavarin.

    Now we have to visit the location Hot Springs, where the nasty gnome Information Broker Bavarin splashes about in one of the pools; he needs the Ice Crystal. The sly ones have already done the quest The Finest Ingredients by this moment, and the crystal is in your quest inventory. If so, we talk to Bavarin again; if not, we go to get the crystal.

  4. Talk to Information Broker Bavarin again. You receive: Investigative Report.

  5. Town of Goddard. Return to High Priest Gregory in the Mages Guild. You receive: Resonance Amulet - 1.

    In the end we exchange the Ice Crystal for some thingy and return to Gregory in Goddard. He gives the first resonance amulet, which has to be carried to the first tablet.

First three tablets

  1. Plains of Glory. Talk to Tablet of Vision.

    The first tablet is the same for all classes, and it stands between Oren and Aden, not far from the Tower of Insolence. So we teleport to the Tower of Insolence and, without entering the tower, run towards the tablet (I usually leave a cat by this tablet so as not to run far).

  2. Monastery of Silence (teleport from Town of Goddard). Hunt Guardian of Forbidden Knowledge (lv. 76) until you have: Resonance Amulet - 2.

    We activate the tablet and learn that the second resonance amulet and the second tablet are in the Valley of Saints, and the amulet itself has to be knocked out of the angels that circle round the tablet in great numbers. The amulet drops from the last angel (that is the rule on PTS servers; on Java ones it drops from the 4th mob). You may be in a party while doing it, and you may be healed. In general all the professions are sent to the Valley of Saints, but there are several tablets and groups of angels there; which of them you need is shown on the map. The angels stand below, in deep pits. The Necromancers have to run a little way straight from the teleport point, through the mobs; it is quite near, in any case check by the map. We stack all the Guardian of Forbidden Knowledge in a little heap (no need to pluck them); the resonance amulet drops from the last one.

  3. Valley of Saints (teleport from Rune Township). Talk to Tablet of Vision.

    We talk to the second tablet, and it tells us that at the third tablet a monster awaits you; by defeating it you get the next amulet. The third tablet of the Necromancers is at the very end of the Wall of Argos, where the x6 angels live. The Necromancers can of course fight their way through this whole crowd, but bear in mind that the mobs are x6, and you will certainly run low on mana, more than once, and will have to sit down and regenerate mana. So we take a blade dancer with Dance of Shadow along and calmly trudge there, paying no attention to the mobs.

  4. Shrine of Loyalty. Talk to Tablet of Vision.

  5. Kill Archangel Iconoclasis (lv. 76) to get: Resonance Amulet - 3.

    A quest mob climbs out of the third tablet, and it has to be beaten. When you took the profession quest, a little book dropped into your inventory; if you click on it, it opens, and in it is written how to defeat this mob. For the Necromancers nothing much is written there, so I simply nuked the beastie down. The mob is called Archangel Iconoclasis.

  6. Return to Tablet of Vision.

    The next amulet drops from the mob, we activate the tablet, and an entry appears in the quest that we have to return to Gregory in the temple of Goddard.

Divine Stone and the fourth tablet

  1. Town of Goddard. Return to High Priest Gregory in the Mages Guild.

    He needs the Divine Stone of Wisdom. If you did the quests in Varka or Ketra beforehand, the little stone is already with you; if not, you will have to go and do them: first get the second level of the alliance with Ketra or Varka (Alliance with Ketra Orcs or Alliance with Varka Silenos), and then, depending on whether you chose the alliance with the orcs or with the goats (oh, oh, not goats but FAUNS), the quest for the Divine Stone of Wisdom: Magical Power of Fire or Magical Power of Water. In short, in the end you must have the Divine Stone of Wisdom in your inventory (the ordinary one). Gregory asks where you will go to get the little stone, to Ketra or to Varka; you can choose any answer, it decides nothing: the main thing is that you do the quests and bring the stone, and where exactly from makes no difference to him.

  2. Talk to High Priest Gregory again. You receive: Resonance Amulet - 4.

    In any case, having got the stone, we give it to the NPC, and in return he gives the fourth amulet. So we have to run to the fourth tablet. It is one for all classes and is next to Ketra; there are no mobs on the way, so we teleport to the entrance of Ketra, get on the path and run along the road to the left, if you stand facing the location.

  3. Garden of Beasts. Talk to Tablet of Vision.

Halisha's minions and the last tablets

  1. Town of Goddard. Return to High Priest Gregory in the Mages Guild.

    After the dialogue with the fourth tablet we go to Goddard to Gregory again; the next task is to beat 700 mobs in the location Shrine of Loyalty, and out of the 701st a quest mob jumps and gives up the amulet. Well, if we do not want to beat so many mobs, he agrees to an alternative, for which the Four Sepulchers have to be passed. Which way you choose depends only on you; I usually beat the mobs.

  2. Shrine of Loyalty. Hunt Grave Scarab (lv. 73), Scavenger Scarab (lv. 73), Grave Ant (lv. 74), Scavenger Ant (lv. 74), Shrine Knight (lv. 75), Shrine Guard (lv. 75) until you have: Halisha's Mark ×700.

    We set off for the Shrine of Loyalty and collect 700 items Halisha's Mark; out of the 701st the Archon of Halisha climbs. The mob is sluggish and drops the next amulet.

  3. Kill Archon of Halisha (lv. 76) to get: Resonance Amulet - 5.

  4. Borderland Fortress. Talk to Tablet of Vision.

    Having got the amulet, we set out for the fifth tablet. It is the same for all classes and is right here, in the Wall of Argos, only it is handier to reach it by returning to Goddard and teleporting to the entrance of the location again. From the teleport point we turn left, run past two glades with deer and run onto a big glade on the left (also with deer). At the far end stands the fifth tablet.

  5. Rune Harbor. Talk to Tablet of Vision.

    The fifth tablet tells you that it remains to get the last, sixth resonance amulet, which is next to the last tablet in the Forest of the Dead, only not by the teleport: you will have to run to it first along the right side over the hills and then drive a few ordinary mobs away from the tablet. We talk to the tablet, and nearby appear the NPC Hindemith Truevoice and the quest mob Lich King Icarus. Naturally, we beat the quest mob. You will not kill it, but soon it disappears, shouting something about a speedy revenge on you for meddling in what is not your business.

  6. Talk to Tablet of Vision again.

  7. Hardin's Academy. Return to Hardin to complete the quest.

    We talk to Hindemith Truevoice, and he hands over the last amulet. We activate the tablet and return to Hardin's Academy, naturally to Hardin. We get the profession Soultaker, some adena (from 5kk to 50kk, depending on the rates) and the book Secret Book of Giants.

    Or, if you prefer, you can get the stone from the Varka Silenos by gaining the trust of their messenger, Naran Ashanuk.

These amulets are essential to the process.

It seems the best way to find Hindemith would be to follow the path that he's chosen. I will now give you the first Resonance Amulet. Go to the place where Hindemith was seen last and use it to commune with the Tablet of Vision there. Your new path will then open before you!

Try communicating with the Tablet of Vision south of the Tower of Insolence using the Resonance Amulet that I gave you. The path will then be revealed to you.

Before you start after Hindemith, I need you to do something for me. Go see Information Broker Bavarin at the hot springs and get the report I asked him to prepare. Bring it to me and I'll tell you how to find Hindemith.

Resonance Amulets and Tablets of Vision have a magical mutual attraction. You can use this force to locate the Tablets of Vision.

Put simply, when you have a Resonance Amulet, the location of the corresponding Tablet of Vision will appear in your mind. Once you find the next amulet, you will see where to find the next tablet. This is the path that Hindemith has chosen, and you will likely find him there.

This process will become clearer to you as you move along. Now, take the Resonance Amulet I gave you and find the first Tablet of Vision south of the Tower of Insolence!

Or, you can get the Divine Stone of Wisdom from Soul Guide Udan Mardui through Varka's Messenger Naran Ashanuk by gaining his trust and proving your wisdom. Either way is fine.

Asefa is the chief shaman and guide of dead souls of the Ketra Orcs. Udan Mardui holds the same position among the Varka Silenos. Each of them possesses a Divine Stone of Wisdom which is a fragment of this Resonance Amulet. Bring one of the stones to me.

Both tribes seem vaguely aware that the stone contains powerful magic and mysterious knowledge, but they have no idea how to access it! They actually give it away as a prize to the person they think is smartest among them!

Prove your wisdom to Asefa of the Ketra Orcs or Udan Mardui of the Varka Silenos and they will give you the stone.
