Legacy of Insolence

Legacy of Insolence is a repeatable, party quest in Lineage 2 Scryde for characters of level 59–75. It starts with Walderal in Town of Aden.

The Tower of Insolence is definitely one of the most marvelous structures in history. The Gray Pillar Guild, expert architects, felt they had to reclaim the inheritance of their Dwarven ancestors' technology.

Legacy of Insolence walkthrough

A quest for getting the recipes of A-grade helmets, gloves and boots. It is taken at level 59 from Walderal, who stands in the warehouse in Aden.

  1. Town of Aden. Take the quest from Warehouse Keeper Walderal.

Warehouse Keeper Walderal in Lineage 2 Scryde
Where to find Warehouse Keeper Walderal: map of Town of Aden
  2. Tower of Insolence (teleport from Town of Aden). Hunt Corrupt Sage (lv. 64), Erin Ediunce (lv. 66), Hallate's Inspector (lv. 68), Platinum Tribe Overlord (lv. 71), Messenger Angel (lv. 70), Platinum Guardian Prefect (lv. 74).

Papyri (white, blue, red and black) will drop from the mobs in the Tower of Insolence; we open them with a double click and get a lot of papers, most of which are useless. The mobs the papyri drop from: Corrupt Sage, third floor, Ancient Red Papyrus; Erin Ediunce, fourth floor, Ancient Red Papyrus; Hallate's Inspector, fifth floor, Ancient Red Papyrus; Platinum Tribe Overlord, seventh floor, Ancient Blue Papyrus; Messenger Angel, eighth floor, Ancient White Papyrus; Platinum Guardian Prefect, ninth and tenth floors, Ancient Black Papyrus.

  3. To get anything from this quest you have to collect a complete set of papers of one type and give it to a certain NPC. The sets and the rewards for them are these. Imperial Genealogy: five different parts make a set, the reward is 3 key materials for DC gloves, boots and helmet (to Holly). Ancient Epic: five different parts, 3 key materials for the Tallum ones (to Patrin). Revelation of the Seals: seven different parts, 3 key materials for the MJ or NM ones (to Claudia Athebaldt or Desmond). Blueprint: Tower of Insolence (floors 1–13): thirteen different parts, the reward is one key material or one recipe for the A-grade pieces, or three key materials, or three recipes (all random).

  4. We need only the Blueprint: Tower of Insolence papers: for a complete set of them (floors 1–13) you can get the longed-for recipe, or as many as three (or you can get none, because instead of a recipe the little rat of an NPC now and then gives 1 (one) key material for the same pieces). It is not entirely random here, since when you hand in the blueprints you choose which set you need the recipes for (DC, MJ, NM or Tallum), but everything else is at the mercy of His Majesty Random, including whether you get a recipe or just a miserable key material.

What is inside each papyrus

  1. I thought it over and will give the breakdown for all the papyri. {i:5966}: Blueprint, 6th Floor 2.00%, 7th Floor 2.00%; Ancient Epic, Chapter 1 1.60%, Chapter 2 11.20%, Chapter 3 8.00%, Chapter 4 8.00%, Chapter 5 2.00%; Imperial Genealogy 1 1.60%, 2 11.20%, 5 2.00%; Revelation of the Seals: Avarice 1.80%, Awakening 8.00%, Calamity 8.00%, Descent 2.00%, Gnosis 11.40%, Strife 11.20%, Vengeance 8.00%.

  2. {i:5967}: Blueprint, 6th Floor 4.00%, 7th Floor 4.00%; Ancient Epic, Chapter 1 6.60%, Chapter 2 10.50%, Chapter 3 3.60%, Chapter 4 3.60%, Chapter 5 4.00%; Imperial Genealogy 1 6.60%, 2 10.50%, 5 4.00%; Revelation of the Seals: Avarice 6.80%, Awakening 3.60%, Calamity 3.60%, Descent 4.00%, Gnosis 10.50%, Strife 10.50%, Vengeance 3.60%.

  3. {i:5968}: Blueprint, 1st Floor 14.34%, 2nd 14.33%, 3rd 10.25%, 4th 10.25%, 5th 1.60%, 8th 14.33%, 9th 10.25%, 10th 10.25%, 11th 1.60%, 12th 1.60%, 13th 1.60%; Imperial Genealogy 3 1.60%, 4 1.60%; Musical Score Theme of Battle 1.60%, Theme of Love 1.60%; Ancient Chain Letter 1.60%; Ancient Joke Book 1.60%.

  4. {i:5969}: Blueprint, 1st Floor 21.60%, 2nd 21.60%, 3rd 2.50%, 4th 2.50%, 5th 2.00%, 8th 21.60%, 9th 2.60%, 10th 2.60%, 11th 2.00%, 12th 2.00%, 13th 3.00%; Imperial Genealogy 3 2.00%, 4 2.00%; Musical Score Theme of Battle 3.00%, Theme of Love 3.00%; Ancient Chain Letter 3.00%; Ancient Joke Book 3.00%.

  5. The rarest floors are 5, 6, 7, 11, 12 and 13. All the floors except 6 and 7 drop from the white and black papyri; floors 6 and 7 come from the blue and red ones with a chance of 4% and 2% respectively. I farm the black papyri on the 10th floor from the small mobs of the platinum race, the red ones drop on the 5th from the big red mobs, and the angels on the eighth give the best chance for the rare floors (though only 1% better than the black ones). To sum up: all the floors except 6 and 7 are best farmed from the angels on the 8th floor (white papyri), and floors 6 and 7 from the overlords on the 7th floor of the tower (blue papyri), since their chance is 4% (against 2% in the red papyri). But that is as it goes: TOI is not made of rubber, there are different numbers of different mobs, and there may not be enough for everyone.

  6. Naturally, the Koreans could not do without all sorts of anti-goodies that get in the way of finishing the quest quickly (apart from the papyri not dropping all that well). So besides the blueprints being hard to pull out of the papyri as it is, quite useless things will fall out of them too, such as Ancient Joke Book and Ancient Chain Letter (by analogy with the quest in the Giants Cave, where paintings and letters pour out), and musical scrolls as well.

  7. By my observations, different characters open the papyri differently: one of my chars pulled exactly the blueprints out of them very well, while another kept getting mostly musical scrolls. But it may well be just my ravings. Try it yourself.

  8. Town of Aden. Return to Warehouse Keeper Walderal to complete the quest.

And now about the reward, namely the chances. They differ for the low and the top key materials and recipes. If you choose DC or Tallum: 10% that you are given one key material, and the same chance for a set of three different key materials; 11% for one recipe of the gloves or boots; 17% for one recipe of the helmet; 21% for the set of all three recipes. If you choose MJ or NM: from 15% to 17% for one key material; 9% for a set of three different key materials; 12% for one recipe of the gloves or boots; 10% for one recipe of the helmet; 8% for the set of all three recipes. As you can plainly see, messing with the recipes of the top A-grade pieces is far riskier than with the low ones, and 21% is a good chance to catch a treat in the form of a full set of low A-grade recipes. Good luck.

Tips

  • Update. I ran an experiment and collected 15 sets of blueprints; here is what came of it. I handed them in only for the recipes of low A gear, namely Tallum. The set of three recipes was given only once, a single recipe 8 times, 3 key materials 2 times and a single key material 4 times. In the end I had 3 recipes for Tallum gloves, 4 for Tallum boots and 4 for the Tallum helmet. You could say I am disappointed, since I can freely spoil the helmet and boots recipes at any moment. And how much torment it was to collect those sets.

Recently, some fearless people have gone into the Tower of Insolence. They are frantically searching for ancient, secret treasure. We of the Gray Pillar Guild cannot be left out of what's going on in there. That tower was built by dwarves! We can't allow outsiders to plunder it! We already have a team in there, are you interested? Well, come to think of it, you don't look very experienced... I wouldn't want to have to haul your cold corpse out of there...

Recently, some fearless people have gone into the Tower of Insolence. They are frantically searching for ancient, secret treasure. We of the Gray Pillar Guild cannot be left out of what's going on in there. That tower was built by dwarves! We can't allow outsiders to plunder it! We already have a team in there.

Ah, the mysteries of the Tower... How did our noble ancestors do it? It is said that the original blueprints are located somewhere in the tower. Would you be interested in recovering them for us?

  • "I'll do it."

Marvelous! In the middle section of the Tower of Insolence you will find monsters such as corrupt sages, erin ediunces, Hallate's inspectors, Platinum tribe overlords, Platinum guardian prefects, and messenger angels. It is they who are in possession of the blueprints of the tower. Please recover the blueprints and bring them to me. In return, I will give you a very rare and precious recipe or ingredient. What do you say? Interested?

  • "I'll do it."

All right! Then, off you go! Make sure to bring me back the blueprints. All I need to do is to complete the blueprint for the entire tower... Although you may find some other stuff, I promise I won't touch it. The objective of our guild is to obtain the technical knowledge that was used to build the Tower of Insolence!

Did you find anything? Or perhaps you have a question?

  • "Tell me more about the Contract I signed."
  • "I have found many other things besides blueprints..."
  • "I've brought you all the blueprints for 13 floors of the Tower of Insolence."
  • "I'll continue to look for more blueprints."
  • "I want out of the Contract."

Are you OK? How did you forget so quickly? OK, once more. Listen carefully. Bring to me the blueprints of the Tower of Insolence. There are 13 of them.

Take them from corrupt sages, erin ediunces, Hallate's inspectors, Platinum tribe overlords, Platinum guardian prefects and messenger angels. You can keep anything else you find on them. All I want are the blueprints... If you're able to get and bring back the blueprints for all 13 floors, then, I will give you a very rare and precious recipe or ingredient.

Is that clear? Now, please, get going.

Hmm, a book, eh? Well, we're only interested in blueprints... Wait a minute..., come to think of it, I heard that Madam Claudia Athebaldt is looking for a book titled "Revelation of the Seals". It seems that Magister Desmond is searching for the same book. It must be important...

Trader Holly in the Town of Aden also collects history books. She is especially interested in any documents related to imperial genealogy.

Patrin of the Town of Oren, the antiques dealer, is wild about epics.

Unfortunately, blueprints for just a couple of floors are of no use to us. We must have the design of the entire structure to truly understand its mysteries. Please bring them all to us.

Let me see... Ah, the blueprints for all 13 floors! Excellent! Now we shall learn the secrets of the tower! One day the mighty Gray Pillar Guild will construct an even grander building! Thank you for your hard work. You'll be well-rewarded... I just received several different recipes and ingredients from the famous workshop of Maestro Reorin! Which type would you like?

  • Dark Crystal
  • Tallum
  • Nightmare
  • Majestic

Here it is! This will be helpful if you're thinking of getting any A-Grade dark crystal equipment.

By the way... I've heard that there are still copies of the blueprints for the Tower of Insolence available! Would you bring me some?

  • "Here are some more blueprints."
  • "I'll look for more blueprints."
  • "I want to quit."

What...? I thought you said you had more blueprints...?

No, no... Just one or two floors won't be helpful at all. We must understand the structure of each floor systematically, which means knowing the weight-bearing walls, types of pillars and things like that... I must have blueprints for all 13 floors! Please continue to look for them.

Wonderful! These blueprints are actually in quite poor condition... I'd appreciate it very much if you could find some more and bring them to me! Get them from corrupt sages, erin ediunces, Hallate's inspectors, Platinum tribe overlords, Platinum guardian prefects and messenger angels. I'll wait here.

Oh, really? Well, I can hardly blame you. Thank you for your help.

Oh, really? Are you tired of fighting with them? Well, I don't blame you. I understand. If that is your wish I won't stop you. Thank you for your help. Well, I'll take the blueprints you've gathered so far. I'm sure they will be helpful to our research. Thank you. Here is your reward.

Oh, really? Please show it to me!

How did you know that I'm researching the history of the empire? I'm trying to convince everyone I'm just a pure and naive girl...

History is my passion! My grandfather was also a researcher studying the history of the Elmoreden empire. I'm currently researching the genealogy of the royal family.

If you come across any books dealing with that subject, please bring them to me. You wouldn't refuse an innocent and naive girl's request, would you? Well... I wouldn't ask you to do it for free... If bring me all the records of genealogy of the empire, I'll give you a few valuable relics my grandfather left me.

Amazing! Please give it to me. Hmm... I knew it! Baium wasn't the last emperor of the Elmoreden empire! Although his reign was brief, Printes, Baium's son, ruled the empire. He eventually went missing somewhere in the Goddard region...

Thank you for bringing me the book! I find it so fascinating! Here is your reward. If you find any other books like this, please bring them to me!

You're bringing the "Revelation of the Seals", aren't you? Here, let me see.

What's this? You didn't bring them all! Go get the rest! I'll hold onto these for now. When you bring more, I'll send them to my superior! Then you shall receive your reward.

Is this the entire set of the "Revelation of the Seals"? Ah, yes! Give them here! Now I am so much closer to discovering the secret of the seven seals! Soon we, the Revolutionaries of Dusk, will rule the world!

Here is your reward. If you find any more of these kind of books, bring them to me, do you understand?

There's a rumor that you've been collecting old scrolls at the Tower of Insolence... Have you come across a scroll of ancient epic, written by a troubadour from the ancient era? If you have such an item, it could be of great value. Artistic value is quite subjective. It may look like someone's doodling to you, but to the trained eye, it could prove to be more valuable than precious stones. If you find such an epic, please bring it to me! I'll pay you very well for it.

Wow! Is this an ancient epic? What a find! I'll take it!

I can pay you this much. If you find any more ancient epics, please bring them all to me. I will appraise them and give you the best possible prices.

Have you brought "The Revelation of the Seals"? Remember - once you've collect all seven books, bring them straight to me! The Lords of Dawn have very high expectations of you!

This is "The Revelation of the Seals"! Many wish to possess this book, my husband foremost among them....

I appreciate your hard work and hope this reward shows you just how grateful I am to you.
