Soul crystal quest

Quest: Now, Bestow Special Power to Your Sword

Now, Bestow Special Power to Your Sword is a repeatable, solo quest in Lineage 2 C2: Age of Splendor.

Soul crystal quest walkthrough

The quest Enhance Your Weapon is the charging of SA crystals. As you all (probably) know, starting from C grade, SA crystals can be inserted into a weapon (SA stands for special ability), which additionally raise some characteristic of the weapon. The most popular SA with mages is Acumen, with warriors Focus, but such SAs cannot be inserted into every weapon. In general every weapon has three strictly defined inserts, and the player chooses the best of the three to their liking. To see which bonuses you can make in a given weapon with an SA, click the weapon once in the inventory: below, after all the characteristics, the available inserts are listed.

  1. All the SAs are inserted at blacksmiths: up to SA level 10 (C- and B-grade weapons) in any smithy; an SA into an A- or S-grade weapon is inserted only by the Blacksmith of Mammon in the week of the Seven Signs victory. Only the Blacksmith of Mammon and his little relative, the black-market Merchant of Mammon who hides in secluded corners of every town, can take an SA out of a weapon. The crystals come in three colours, blue, green and red, and depending on the colour the weapon gets one or another addition. SA crystals from level 7 to 10 are sold in the luxury shop in Giran by the saleswoman on the right; all the others can be got only by taking the quest Enhance Your Weapon and charging a crystal by hand.

  2. Now let us sort out the levels of the SA crystals. The lowest level we may need is level 5 of the blue colour: this crystal can be inserted into the low C dagger Cursed Dagger for the skill reuse of the Destroyer.

  3. Giran Castle Town. Find Grand Magister Jurek in the Mages Guild and take the quest.

The quest can be done from character level 40. We go to the magic guild in Giran (it is on the right side of the temple: we pass through the corridor and cross the bridge over the river) and look there for Grand Magister Jurek; we take the quest from him and also a number of blue SA crystals of level 0. We teleport to Aden and from there to the Seal of Shilen. There lives the mob known to everybody, Doom Knight (the stunning brute with an oar in its hands).

  4. Now we memorise one important rule: for a crystal to charge, it must be the only one in the inventory. Two or more crystals start to resonate and do not charge. We throw all the crystals but one on the ground (or give them to a buffer to hold) and put the remaining one on the quick panel under any convenient F key. We beat the Doom Knight until 5-10% of its HP is left and press the key with the SA. An animation is shown as if we were draining HP from the mob (that is us pulling the soul out of it), the mob dies, and one of three messages appears in the system chat. 1: the crystal absorbed the soul, that is, it charged and is now level 1. 2: the crystal could not absorb the soul, the SA level remains 0. 3: the crystal could not withstand being filled with the soul and broke; in that case we take the next one. In this way we charge the little crystal up to level 5. The process is unpredictable: you may raise level 5 in 10 minutes, or you may kick a heap of Doom Knights and the crystal will not rise. You will figure it out along the way.

  5. I had not played on C4 servers before, but recently I dropped in on one, and it turned out that in those chronicles the SA crystals are not sold in the luxury shop (and the luxury shop is called quite differently in general). So there everybody charges the crystals by hand all the way to level 10.

  6. The skill of charging is acquired, let us go on. The most wanted, of course, are the SAs from level 11 to 13. They are charged on raid bosses, and they can no longer break; well, at least something to be glad about. We buy an SA of level 10 of the needed colour in the luxury shop and go to charge it on an RB (do not forget to take the quest from Jurek, many miss the charge that way). When you charge an SA on raid bosses, you no longer have to put the crystal on the quick panel and press it: just let it lie in the inventory.

  7. The raid bosses on which SAs are charged from level 10 to 11 and from 11 to 12: Roaring Skylancer, Antharas Priest Cloe, Beast Lord Behemoth, Krokian Padisha Sobekk, Meanas Anor, Eilhalder von Hellmann. The raid bosses on which SAs are raised from level 12 to 13: Ember and Anakazel in the Hero Rift. In the Interlude update several mobs were added on which SAs are raised to levels 11 and 12: Tyrannosaurus and the raid boss Sailren.

Tips

  • On an epic boss the crystals of the whole party grow if the party lands the last blow. On an ordinary raid boss it is a small chance for every member, so several kills may be needed.
  • Read the system message after the kill. "Nothing happened" means a wrong monster or a missed step; a refusal to level means the monster is too weak for this stage; a resonance means a second crystal lies in your inventory.
  • To take a second crystal, put the first one into the warehouse and talk to the magister again. What each stage is used for is explained in .

Many magisters and maestros have been recruiting volunteers to form a united front against the coming dark days. They have developed methods of strengthening weaponry, and ask that you and all volunteers avail yourselves of them.
