Quest for 60% recipes of Tallum and Dark Crystal armor in Giants Cave

Quest: Exploration of Giants Cave, Part 1

Exploration of Giants Cave, Part 1 is a repeatable, solo quest in Lineage 2 C3: Rise of Darkness for characters of level 57+. It starts with Sobling.

Quest for 60% recipes of Tallum and Dark Crystal armor in Giants Cave walkthrough

The quest consists of two parts: in the first part you beat the mobs at the very beginning of Giants Cave, and the reward is recipes for Tallum and DC light and heavy bodies, and also for the Tallum mage top and bottom; in the second part (Exploration of Giants Cave, Part 2) the mobs are in the depths of the cave, and the reward is recipes for MJ and NM light and heavy bodies. Part 1: starting level 51, the starting NPC is Sobling, the quest is permanent, the reward is 60% recipes for Tallum and Dark Crystal heavy and light bodies or for the Tallum mage top and bottom. Sobling stands at the rightmost entrance to Giants Cave; you can get to him either from Silent Valley or from Forsaken Plains, the distances are about the same.

  1. Take the quest from Head Researcher Sobling.

  2. The Giant's Cave. Hunt Yintzu (lv. 56), Paliote (lv. 57), Hamrut (lv. 58), Kranrot (lv. 59) until you have: Ancient Parchment.

We beat the mobs not far from the entrance; we need the eyes, the little balls, the bears and the spiders. Very rarely Ancient Parchment drops from them (into the ordinary inventory); on a double click we get from it a love letter or a picture (throw them away at once), or the more useful blueprints of different colours, which have to be collected in sets by colour. The mobs: the first room from any entrance has Yintzu and Paliote; the second room from any entrance and deeper has Hamrut and Kranrot.

  3. What comes out of an Ancient Parchment: Book: Giants Medical Science - for a set of five different scrolls Sobling gives at random one of the recipes for the Tallum tunic or the Tallum mage stockings; Blueprint: Giants Golem - for a set of five, one of the recipes for the Tallum heavy body (Recipe: Sealed Tallum Plate Armor(60%)) or the DC heavy top (Recipe: Sealed Dark Crystal Breastplate(60%)); Book: Basics of Giants Magic - one of the recipes for the DC heavy or light bottom; Handbook: Giants Architecture - one of the recipes for the DC light top or the Tallum light body. The most wanted is Blueprint: Giants Golem 1-5: with this set you can get the recipe for the Tallum heavy body, the other recipes of the first part matter less. Giant's Love Letter and Giant's Doodle are absolutely useless, throw them away or sell them to a shop.

  4. Return to Head Researcher Sobling. You receive: Mysterious Book.

Mysterious Book can drop from the same mobs into the quest inventory. As soon as we get this book, we run to Sobling.

  5. Town of Oren. Find Warehouse Freightman Cliff in the warehouse. Hand over: Mysterious Book. You receive: Ancient Language Dictionary: Intermediate Level.

He sends us to the warehouse of Oren, to Cliff, to translate the book into the modern language. We translate it and get the book Ancient Language Dictionary: Intermediate Level into the quest inventory. By the way, look at the wall to the left of Cliff: a picture from Giants Cave hangs there (the useless item that drops from the quest scrolls and that we throw away); maybe that is where the belief came from that these useless pictures can be used by hanging them on the walls of clan halls ).

  6. Return to Head Researcher Sobling to complete the quest.

We return to Sobling and get access to the second part of the quest. Do not forget that after Oren you must come up to Sobling and take the second part: I slipped up like that several times, first climbing down to the very bottom of the cave and only then remembering that I had not taken the quest.

Tips

  • My own observations. To get a recipe for the Tallum heavy body (or several), you have to knock out about 150-200 quest items in the first part. I noticed that different characters open the parchments differently: my dwarf crafter extracts blueprints in the Tower of Insolence with almost 100% probability, but in Giants Cave she is unlucky, love letters and pictures pour out; with my Shillien Elder it is the other way round.
  • About the Mysterious Book: it is quite a nightmare. The last time I did the first part with six characters, I did not get the book for all of them, and the funniest thing is that the book did not go precisely to the Spellhowler, the main damage dealer who dragged the support along. In all, "booking" five characters took some five or six days. I ran experiments on the drop: ran with one character and with a crowd, threw the characters that already had the second part or the book out of the party, sat them down far away and close by, in a party and without one, in short tried every variant. For the Mysterious Book I saw no difference at all: the book did not drop, and went on not dropping. In the first part I only noticed that the items seemed to drop better at night.
  • In the end I did take the trouble to sort out all this nonsense with the drop of the items in this quest. The point turned out to be that the distribution of the items in a party is rather tangled. First it is decided whether a quest item drops from the mob. If it drops, it is decided who in the party gets it. Then it is checked whether that character has the quest taken, and if not, the item flies off to nowhere, that is, nobody gets it. Then the distance from the damage dealer to that party member is checked, and if it is more than 1500, the item flies off to nowhere. With the Mysterious Book it is even harder, because next it is checked whether this character needs the item, and if not (it has already been received), the item flies off to nowhere.
